Description
Trillium Brewing Company was founded by JC and Esther Tetreault, a young dumb couple in love, planning their wedding and dreaming about how they would spend their lives together. The desire to build a brewery was about more than just making beer, it was about creating a way of life and building a community with which to share experiences. A beer geek and botany nerd, JC chose the trillium flower to represent what we strive to bring to our beer and our lives: beauty, strength, simplicity, and balance. We operate a brewery and taproom in Canton, MA as well as a full service restaurant and brewery in the Fort Point neighborhood of Boston. We also operate seasonal pop-up beer gardens around the city of Boston under the Trillium Garden project.

750 ml bottle from the brewery, bottled on August 18, 2014. Hazy straw color with massive head retention. Aroma is rather interesting, herbal as in cooking herbs. Parsley, weak thyme leaves, hints of citrus under that.
Body shows a nice level of juicy citrus hops and the herbal flavor I noticed in the aroma. The 9.3 % does make itself known but only in the way of a warming sensation after the sip. The bitterness is balanced by the way of some grain and sweet malt, so the IBU really isn’t that noticeable. Pretty crushable even considering the larger ABV.

64 oz. growler shared by Rob B. Nice unfiltered, cloudy straw color with massive white head. Aroma is damn nice! Grassy and citrus hops with a straw, dried hay element. The flavor is much the same as the nose with fresh juicy citrus turning into a lightly pine and grassy dry bitterness. Bitterness lingers for a good bit after the sip. It is a little abrasive toward the finish but that is what I like about it. Can’t wait to try the Heavy Mettle I have a bottle of! This IPA turned me on to this brewery.

64 oz. growler. Nearly clear yellow with active carbonation. Aroma is citrus hops and light Belgian yeast notes, pleasant. Flavor is citrus, light pine and traces of yeast. Lots of citrus and fruit flavors. Low bitterness with a lively mouthfeel. The "Belgian" IPA thing really kind of works here. Nice, enjoyable brew.

Super fresh, awesome beer. Pours cloudy yellow with good head and lacing. Lots of piney hops in this with some grapefruit. Best IPA I’ve had in a long time, very hop-forward and well-done. Thanks to someone at Churchkey for sharing some of this bottle. Great stuff.

From a growler shared at DC Beer Week. Copper pour with an off white head. Fruity aroma. Flavors of pine resin. Nicely balanced and tasty IPA.
Update based on a fresh can from the brewery. Good stuff.
