Description
First brewed in Summer 2008. Beers under the badge "Chideock Brewery", but coming from the same source were seen in May 2012. Brewery location North End Farm, Venn Lane, North Chideok. By 2014 the brewery had ceased brewing on its own equipment while seeking new premises. In the meantime it is believed that some beers are being brewed on an occasional basis at Sherfield Village brewery. In 2016 brewing recommenced at a new location in Devon. Brewing ceased again during 2020 with production moving back to Sherfield Village.

Gravity dispense at the Duchess of Cambridge, Stamford Brook - 12/07/12. Clear golden amber with a thin white head. Fruity nose with hops and a touch of earthiness. Citrus fruits in the taste, with the orange family at the fore, a little sweet sugar. Medium in body, bitter sweet finish. Drinkable but wouldn’t revisit.

Bottle at Bruce’s Housewarming Party Tasting, London. Pours faintly hazy, bright gold with a foamy, white head. Big fruit nose with marmalade, orange, tangerine. Medium sweet flavor with some grassy bitterness, dry citrus and tangerine. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Super dry finish with tangerine rind, dry citrus, some abrasive grass. Doesn’t fully come together. A bit overly dry and grassy. It’s still OK, but not great.

Bottle at Bruce’s Housewarming Party Tasting, London. Pours clear, light brown with a fine, tan foam head. Semi-dark malt nose with burnt leaves, faint cocoa and toasty bread. Light sweet flavor with some further pieces of toasty bread, light cocoa and some dirt. Light in body with fine carbonation. Moderate sweetness in the end with more dirt, weak roast, faint dry chocolate, mild toast. The character is just pretty weak overall, kind of thin. Nothing bad, per se, but nothing exciting, either. (3.0)

Cask at Reading Beer Festival 2012. Pours light brown, clear, with a moderate foam head. Leafy, musty roasty malt nose with hints of vanilla. Nice flavor, medium sweet with good vanilla and sturdy chocolate character, some gritty earth, light tangy dark malts. Light to meidum bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with some chocolate, light caramel and vanilla, and soft roast. Very solid, though not outstanding. (3.6)
