Bottle at home in London - picked up at We Brought Beer. Pours reddish-brown with a frothy tan head. The aroma has lightly roasted malts, some burnt leaves, dusty cocoa. Light-medium sweet flavor with hints of ash, more subdued roast, pleasant dry chocolate, balancing earthy bitterness, dried dark fruits. Light bodied with average to lively carbonation. Nicely balanced on the finish with prominent chocolate character, some burnt brown bread, more earthy bitterness, toasted grains, dried berries. Solid all-around porter. Lots of character packed considering the strength.

Gravity cask at the brewery for the grand opening. Pours clear gold, lightly effervescent, with a light white foam head. Bready pale malt nose with pleasing accents of tangerine. Medium sweet flavor with bits of white bread, some juicy citrus, light grass and pine, perhaps some wort (maybe a little under-fermented). Light bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet on the finish with bready pale malts, some dough, peach, citrus, light grain. Not bad. A bit too much residual sweetness though. OK.

Cask at the three johns. Aroma is nice nutty praline, sweet cocoa, coco powder. Ruby red / caramel brown coloured pour with a loose cream coloured head. Some light fruit and but chocolate on the noise as well. Flavour is hazelnut, choc, sweet caramel malts, praline, dried fruits with a little earhy notes. Palate is fairly light bodied with low cask condition and a semi sweet note. Lingering drying woodyness, coco powder and raisin. Decent.

Bottle from Ravensgate Arms, Ramsgate. Hazy amber colour lasting beige head. Sherbert hoppy aroma and some malt sweetness. Ok amber malt in the mouth, with more hops sherbert on the finish. Fine. Not overly exciting but fine.
