Purchased a 12 oz. bottle off the clearance rack at Bottles, Providence, RI. Color is a clear Amber with very little head or carbonation. Aroma is toasted grain and caramel. Flavor is horrible even for the age. Has a herbal hop of sorts that balances the malt. Mild traces of sugar. Pretty simple and follows the style guidelines.

Draft @ Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub. Flavor is real malt heavy with the hops being hidden under the sweet flavors. The rum barrel gives the hops a candied orange / grapefruit note. The bitterness doesn’t come through at all with the large sweetness. The ABV is hidden under the sticky malts. It’s not cloying but after 5 oz. of it I didn’t want anymore. I would say because of the barrel ageing give it a try.

12 oz. bottle. Amber color with a purple hue. The aroma is light blueberry and honey malt. The flavor is the same. I bet this was a fan favorite back in 2004 or 2005. But the thin body, weak grain and soapy blueberry just doesn’t do it for me. Weak like 80 percent of fruit based beers.

Sampled at 3rd annual RI Brewfest , Aroma is chocolate syrup, biter black coffee, with a touch of vanilla. Flavor has some molasses, ashy malts and I can taste the coffee bean but unfortunately it has turned slightly bitter and sour. Still drinkable but is you have a bottle sitting you better drink it, the coffee bean is not holding up. Drinkable but on its way south.

Bottle shared by BeerandBlues2 at DC Pre-Thanksgiving tasting. Poured a dark, oil black color with a small dark tan head. Aroma was some coffee, roasted malts, dark chocolate character. Smooth vanilla notes. Some coffee and roasted are in the finish. Tasty.
