On tap at the taproom. Clear, dark golden, topped by a small off-white head. Lightly grainy and buttery aroma with hay, piney hops and some green apples. It’s quite dryon the palate with a soft carbonation, medium body. Grains, generic fruityness, green apples and some peppery, piney hops in the flavor, nice bitterness too. Lasting finish. Refreshing and quenching this one, but a bit unclean. 150607

750 ml bottle purchased at Bottles in Providence, RI. Mahogany/ ruby color no head, soft carbonation level. Nose is molasses, caramelized sugars, thick toffee, very weak banana phenolics.
The flavor is was of course better on draft when I sampled it at Rhode Island Brewfest in Pawtucket back in February. This has turn into a sweet syrup texture with an abundance of toffee, and some sugar. The yeast character is pretty much drowning in overly sweet malts. The carbonation is nearly flat as well. Well this dinosaur right here was much better on draft and my score is based on the draft example instead of this bottle.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy bright golden color with a medium sized foamy yellow-white head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy sugar, blueberry and a touch of blue raspberry. The flavor was bitter and dryish with cardboard and faint vague berries. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Nikki's Liquors, 4/23/15
Aroma: The nose is caramel malts, some butterscotch, rye bread, spice, and some light earth
Appearance: Pours an unclear caramel-amber color with a small beige head and light, spotty lace
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet, a good amount of spice/rye, and a reasonably bitter finish
Palate: The body is medium, it feels slightly cloying, a little sticky, with a mid-dry finish
Overall Impression: I found this one to be a pretty solid rye beer, but not a particularly on-style DIPA. The freshness date is August, so I don't think that is the issue, but the hops are just a little lacking here (especially in the aroma). Still, as a rye beer, it does a good job, and there's a decent bitterness in the close. It grew on me as I drank it, and I probably enjoyed the 12th oz more than the 1st.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Nikki's Liquors, 4/16/15.
Aroma: It has a clean, lightly sweet malty aroma, caramel, a little spice, and some hop notes.
Appearance: The pour is dark orange in color, mostly clear, with a beige head and medium lace.
Flavor: Similar flavor, with a decently malty presence, medium sweet and mildly bitter.
Palate: Light-medium bodied, not a great mouthfeel, soft carbonation, slightly dry finish.
Overall Impression: I didn't love this beer. The flavor is below average, and it is just kind of off. Not awful, but certainly not good either.

Aroma: The nose is caramel malts, herbal hops, a bit of citrus, and some buttery notes
Appearance: Pours a nice orange color with a small off-white head and fairly coating lace
Flavor: Tastes much the same, sweet up-front, slightly bittery mid-palate, with a bitter close
Palate: Light-medium bodied, with a fairly smooth feel, and a clean, dry finish
Overall Impression: This isn't a terrible beer by any means, but there's definitely some flawed notes that just have to keep the score down here.

Bottle from Nikki’s Liquors, shared at the C’Ville Foxy Knoxy tasting. Hazy amber, large fizzy tan head. Decent retention. Aroma of toffee, salt, caramel, rum. The taste is toffee, caramel, raisin, salt, citrus, rum, wood. Medium bodied, boozy, low carbonation, wears its oxidation well.
