Description
Four Quarters Brewing, founded in March 2014, is a 10 barrel brewery located in Winooski VT specializing in sours, stouts, and hoppy beers.

Four Quarters embodies the cycle of life that each ingredient makes on its way to your glass. A seed is carefully planted and nurtured, growing with the energy of the sun, Earth, wind, and rain. Its fruits are harvested, later the seeds, and the cycle of life starts again. Our logo, the moon phases, encapsulates this cycle, present in every living thing. When we create, we are celebrating the Earth and everything that grows within.

It is our hope, that by thoughtfully crafting each and every beer with this cycle in mind, we can pass to our drinker, not just a glass of delicious brew, but our passion, our love, and our thankfulness, for all things in our natural world. If you’re ever in Vermont, we’d love to have you come visit our taproom.

We also distribute our beer throughout Vermont, Maine, and eastern Massachusetts.

Can drunk 8/4/18.
Deep, hibiscus magenta with tan and cantaloupe hues, as well. Large beige and pink head settles out to cover. Quite hazy.
Fruity, juicy, rich nose is full of leathery, earthy, spicy hibiscus, light pine, lemon, orange and pineapple and seemingly, a ton of malt. Big honey-vanilla notes linger on the end, more than balancing the hop character.
In the mouth it's soft, malty, sweet, showing low, somewhat loose carbonation and a light acidity from hop and hibiscus. The low carbonation and somewhat mushy-sweet malts really do a lot of damage here, as it gets rather sluggish and heavy on the palate with lots of sugar and monotonous citrus and hibiscus acidity.

Can, undated, drunk 8/1/18.
Deep, brass-copper. Moderate haze and a beige head that sits at cover.
Passion fruit, lime and light spiciness lead to fruity, strawberry and chardonnay notes. Honey comes on quickly, followed by caramel, and it suddenly finds itself very malty. Probably too much so. No alcohol or resin but pretty mediocre hop character in the nose. Quite vague.
In the mouth it's immediately boozy and bitter with twangy pine and apricot notes leading to caramel and prune? Softens a bit, thankfully, as it warms but never really gets particularly interesting. Just too much bare pine and heavy bitterness and the odd caramel character that never goes away. Dry, though and low but engaging carbonation. Sharp ester and resin appears retronasally.

Can drunk 6/8/18.
Mostly clear, golden-honey-yellow with little/no head.
A LOT of spearmint easily outdoes the fair amount of lime juice. Some sweet honey and biscuit-like malt behind it seems like it would otherwise have balanced things. Sourness is pretty minimal, just some tart lactic acidity with lemon-pineapple-like tropical fruit acids.
In the mouth it's tightly carbonated with a malty, well-attenuated texture showing biscuit and honey but just an obnoxious amount of spearmint and even if it weren't for that, too much lime. Ruins the beer as it just tastes like a mouth full of adjunct, unfortunately.

Can drunk 5/28/18.
Mostly clear, honey-wax-yellow-maize. Spotty white head atop showing moderately-low retention.
Amazingly juicy, tropical fruit-filled nose shows just a hint of the jalapeno spice and the lactic component is integrated almost perfectly with the fruit character. Base malts behind are quite full and provide plentiful honey and cereal, while little/no salinity is found on the finish. Zesty, spicy, juicy pineapple-lactic character lingers on very nicely with no alcohol or flaw.
In the mouth it's moderately sweet, softly-malty and full of spicy, juicy pineapple and strong jalapeno. Pepper flavor is authentic and fresh, with floral notes on top of the heat. Tight carbonation and a wonderfully-integrated souring aspect. Sweet, sour, salty and juicy all at once. Absolutely loved it.
