Third of a pint in my local Wetherspoon pub on 17th March 2018. Lager like in it's golden appearance, white head too. Light citrus leanings in both the nose and taste, not really my thing. Scored objectively.

Cask handpull at The Society Rooms Maidstone JDW. Clear gold amber colour lasting white head. Weird herb on this. Some chilli? Weird chilli bitter pepper hop OK condition. Just weird. A herby citrus flavour. Some bitterness on the finish. Just odd

Clear deep golden colour, tall frothy white to off-white head, good retention, heavy lacing. Aroma toasted malts, toffee, orange, tangerine, yeast, grass. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, light fruity, hop resin. Malty bittersweet aftertaste, resinous, dusty, earthy, spicy notes. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, not an IPA imo but an amber ale and a sturdy one.

Cask at PoW, Farnborough. Nil aroma. Light chestnut. Thin bubbly translucent white head. Light bitter with a malty undertow. Is there some spice? Maybe. Light bodied but has some buoyancy thanks to soft carbonation. Abrupt finish. Just really so boring. How's it relate to rugby? (Well, it could be the boring bit).

A cheeky pint of cask at the Crutched Friar. A deep dark brown in the glass and a reasonable head for a cask beer. The taste was all about the rich malt with some balancing bittering hops. It slipped down a treat with a smooth malty mouthfeel and reminded me of my youth when I used to drink gallons of this growing up in Wiltshire. It's a true English session bitter that is totally on style. It was also kept very well by the pub as this stuff tends to be terrible at travelling.

Keg at the brewery. Gold with a white head and a middling fizz. Decent fresh leafy hops and white pepper up front with a touch of lemon. Some hop resins in the mouthfeel. Dies a little in the finish leaving a dusty, mildly dry aftertaste. Waddy's have definitely and unexpectedly produced an IPA, but it's not the best example of the genre. Pleasant enough though.

Cask at the brewery. Dark brown with a cream-coloured head. Chocolate liqueur and a little Kahlua up front. Thought at first that the chocolate was maybe a bit fake and that it was going to be too sweet. Then a little roasty malt started to kick in and it all balanced out. A pretty decent pint by the finish, and dangerously drinkable for the strength.

Cask at PoW, Farnborough. Floral and spice aroma. Light chestnut. Thin white soap sud head. Another seasonal beer with a mix of spices that just doesn't appeal to me. Down as a bitter but the spices are what come through. Light-medium bodied. On the thin side. Flat carbonation. The spices don't pep it up for me, just give it a soapy flavour.
