Bottle from Booths, Keswick.Deep amber-red with a lasting yellowy- beige head. Lovely rich, malty, fruity aroma. Taste is of toffee, a touch of chocolate and baked plums. A top-notch strong bitter, really enjoyed this.

Bottle from LCB, still in date by 4 months. A slight gusher - needed new trousers. The hazards of beer rating. Clear bright gold with white head, decent lacing but a point off for wet patches. Aroma has a biscuit and grain noted malt with a flora and citrus. Taste has that pale malt but has a drying bitter soapy-floral quality which I didn't find that tasty. Medium bodied, slightly cloying. Not great at all.

Cask at Black Lion, Nantwich (now at 3.4%). Pours golden yellow with minimal off-white head and good lacing. The aroma has floral hops, grains and pine. In the mouth it is juicy and quite bitter with floral hops, citrus and lemon. Hints of grapefruit and honey come through later. Bitterness lasts into the slightly sticky finish. This is decidedly reasonable – plenty of flavour for its strength.

Amber colour with thin soapy head. Perhaps not at its best but generally a bit weak and wishy washy. Grassy. Slightly bitter.
