Fin Profile - Brewver

On tap at Wirtshaus Hüttn', Nürnberg Wednesday 18th June 2025. Pours yolky yellow with a large white head, soft aroma with a light waft of banana and wheat. Taste is good again the wheatiness and banana reveal themselves but subtly. Nice mouthfeel, the carbonation is very soft, good beer.

Visited here Wednesday 18th June 2025. It would appear that the beer choice has dramatically reduced, I asked what beers were available and was told this Pils and this Helles/Kellerbier, both in bottle from the fridge, nothing else available. The service at the counter was (btw it's self service and cash only) was short and whilst not unfriendly, also not particularly friendly. I had a Spalter Pils, from the bottle, a glass was an additional €4 or 5 Pfand. The location is nice, it's underneath the castle, nice shady position under a tree, however I didn't think I'd rush back. There are better places within a stones throw of here.

Handsome Stout from Newbarns Brewery

Can that I picked up from Hereford Beer House and consumed at home Monday 16th June, we had a very nice Pastitsio for tea. Pours black with a tan head, faint aroma of chocolate, roasted malts and a little watery coffee. Soft, smooth, sweet with a roasty bitterness. It's an easy drinker and clearly a well put together Impy, but for me whilst I really like a well crafted no nonsense straightforward Impy Stout, this was just falling short and I'm not quite sure why, perhaps the barrel aged version will reveal more.

Bottle picked up from Sedats Schlüggla Getrankemarkt, Schwaig bei Nürnberg and consumed at home Monday 16th June 2025. We're cooking Pastitsio today. Pours hazy gold with a large stable white head, looks good. Soft carbonation, pleasant mouthfeel, a light but notable hoppiness and bitterness, this is another very good beer from Gansbrau.

We visited here Thursday 5th June 2025 en route back to the UK to see Dad, Isobel, Jude, Scott etc. This is based about 10 mins walk from the train station and it is on the market square, also worth bearing in mind diagonally opposite is is Mazette, a brewpub/café bar, we visited Mazette first but preferred Chaff. It was market day and as the market had only finished an hour or so ago it was being cleared up and was a little scruffy, this was perhaps our only real negative and something beyond the control of the bar. Chaff is a very down to earth bar with the bar/serving area on the right as soon as you enter and further seating off to the left and a few tables and chairs outside, this is where we sat. The beer choice was pretty decent both bottles and tap and staff were friendly and quick to serve. We liked this place, it is very unpretentious, easy going and with a nice mixed crowd.
