For me one proper and honest beer review is more worth than 100 ticks without any relevant content. It’s all about respect for the beer and the craftmanship behind. I will always try to do my best for a proper rating than playing the number game.

Can @ home. Clear dark brown, very close to black body under a big, fine foamy beige head. Aroma of dark malt, chocolate and cardamom. Taste is sweet, dark, smooth malt, chocolate and distinct cardamom. Alcohol is well hidden. Fine body with long lasting aftertaste. The base beer is typical Amager porter, well made and balanced, super smooth. The cardamom is the joker here, I had this served quite cold so the cardamom felt subdued in the start, just like a nice, spiced Christmas beer. The during the last part of the can it was heated up a bit and the spiced part felt a bit to heavy, still a very nice beer.

Slightly unclear deep amber body under a nice, lacing tan head. Aroma has caramel, bread and slightly nutty. Taste is on the malty side with toffee, bread moderate bitterness. Light bodied, but considering the style and the low ABV it feels right. Quite long-lasting malty, relatively sweet aftertaste. Isolated evaluated as ‘just another beer’ it’s really nothing extraordinary besides a well crafted beer, but has to be considered made as a tribute to a rare, almost forgotten historical style this is a pretty interesting beer. It’s a low alcohol beer with more body and flavour than usually found in typical straight forward hop fruity pale ale/session IPA’s that’s frankly just consist of a nice aroma added to a totally neutral body. It’s also an interesting fact that left-over bread has been used as an addition to the brewing malt. The lost history might as well be the future of modern beer right now, bring em on!

Can served at family dinner (would never have bought this by myself). Unclear pale-yellow golden body under a white head. Aroma has fruity hops and grass with a metallic touch. Taste feels quite sweet with low malt and citric fruits, a bit grassy/pine as well. Metallic bitterness, sweet and slightly harsh finish. Unbalanced and quite boring.

Backlog November 2013. Clear golden body under a white head. Not much aroma here, hint of malt. Taste is sweet malt, some iron, not much bitterness but the bitter part seems a bit harsh. Medium body and short aftertaste.

Backlog May 2014. Dark amber, almost black body under a big, lacing beige head. Aroma of roasted, dark malt with a hint of whisky. Taste is sweet, dark, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, mild wood and alcohol. Balanced bitterness. Fine body and pleasant aftertaste. Rather similar to the un-barrelled version, but some impact from the whisky barrel. Still I prefer the original version a tad better in taste.

Backlog May 2014. Unclear orange body under a big, creamy white head. Mild, delicate, spicy aroma with hint of pale malt, dry fruit and alcohol. Aroma gives a certain sweet sugary impression. Taste is in the same direction, mild, delicate, spicy, sweet with quite much oak and some more alcohol in aftertaste. Nice, but a bit too sweet for my taste.
