Bottle at the Loon Factory. Light haze on an orange gold. Loose bubbles of white settle to a slim ring. Nose has oak. Rum. Wheat. Light astringent hop. Anderlecht funk throughout. Taste is light tart. Dry. Minimal amount of bitterness. The 8% feels slightly warming (especially at 10am). Dry light astringent finish. Rum barrel is perfectly pitched and doesn’t overwhelm. Nice one.

Bottle. Nüetnigenough. Light haze on a pale gold. Decent white foam stays the course. Nose has a pretty unmistakable Blaugies yeast character. Mineraly and wheaty. Old world hop. Taste is dry light tart with a bare minimum of sweetness. Bright and airy overall. Dry finish hints at the oak aged element. Nice one. Great tick.

Bottle at the Loon Factory. 2024 version. Pours a slightly lifeless hazed ginger gold. Any head is short lived. Nose has Anderlecht funk in spades. Tart sharp grape. Then there’s some sweet raisin like notes. Lots of sweaty oak. Pretty unusual. Taste is light tart with a distinct sweetness on the lips. Pretty sticky actually. Feels a tad flat overall. Light tart finish. Tasty gear but perhaps it’s lacking some time sat to liven up.

Bottle. Beer Stop Dronfield. Different label now (see pic). Clear amber. Thin semi sticky just off white foam. Toffee malts. Cracknel. Leafy hop. Some sour fruit. Taste is sweet and vinous. Some bitterness. Bit of an earthy tobacco leaf thing. Pretty full bodied and sticky. Vinous and dry finish.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines. Light haze on a pale to medium gold. Decent soppy white foam. Nose has pretty buttery malts. Nice enough hoppage with orange peel and pith. Bit of a marmalade thing. Taste is light sweet with moderate pithy bitterness. Decent body. Light bitter finish. Ok. Bit buttery though.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines. Hazed glowing gold. Head is grim as per a TP pale. Nose has clean malts behind berry bubblegum mosaic. Quite distinctive really. Nicely fresh aromas. Taste isn’t without some sweetness but is mostly light dry and light bitter. Bit thin overall but tasty enough. Dry bitter finish. Ok. Mosaic isn’t my fave mind you.

Bottle. Beer Stop Dronfield. Fine haze on a pale orange gold. Solid swede. Nose has malts that come across a bit brioche. Quite unusual. Solid hoppage. Sweet orange. Bit of white grape. Whiff of pine. Taste is light sweet with a crisp semi twang on the bitterness. Drinks well overall with twangy bitterness to finish but it’s not top tier Kernel by a long way.
