Can. RAD Beer online. Hazed yellow gold. Bubbly sticky white foam. Looks nothing like a West Coast IPA. Anyway. Nose has light sweet malts. Overripe citrus. Bit of herbal leaf. Bit of a Centennial stank. Taste is nicely bitter with a cakey sweetness. Like a sugary bun thing. Drinks decent enough overall despite the sugary thing. Moderate bitterness to finish. Nice beer but if you’re going to flog it as a West Coast IPA it needs to resemble a West Coast IPA.

Can. RAD Beer online. Hazed lemon yellow. Good sticky white froth stays the duration. Thought this was an NZ hopped job at first but it’s not. Nicely tangy vibrant grape notes. Good juicy citrus. Bit of yellow melon. Lean malt backdrop. Smells good. Taste has a light citrusy sweetness but mostly it’s lean bitter and a little dry. Very smashable overall with a pithy zesty bitter finish. Great stuff.

Tap. Two Thirds Beer Co. Zwanze Day. Mostly clear deep pinky purple. Solid foam of baby pink froth. Loads of bittersweet fresh cherry. Light lactic, yoghurt like twang. Fresh oak. Soft herb and light savoury notes, no doubt down to the Vermouth ingredients that were blended in. Flavour is also bittersweet with a light fruity acidity. Drinks very well overall. Cherries for days. This one edged it for me but they’re both great beers.

Tap. Two Thirds Beer Co. Zwanze Day. Misted pale gold with a decent white foam. I love a fresh Gueuze and this is literally that, with added botanicals. Fresh funky oak. Light herb. Lots of lemon peel notes. Drinks super clean and refreshing with little to no acidity. Great stuff. Meant to go back for a pint full but didn’t get round to it.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines. Moderate haze on a ginger gold (only Abbeydale would call a beer “Hazy IPA” when it’s not even that hazy). GF swede. In other words it looks shit. So sweet on the nose I’m wondering if it’s oxidised. Loads of ripe fruit. Bit of pine. Bit of mango. Super sweet brioche malts. Taste is sticky sweet with a moderate piny bitterness. Bit heavy on the palate. Bitter finish but the sweetness never gets reigned in enough. Yeah it’s wank, oxidised or not. A sweet heavy mess. I’m off down Abbeydale’s new taproom in a couple of days. Can’t wait…

Bottle. RAD Beer, I think. Hazed orange gold. Thick rocky whipped egg white swede. Nose has unmistakable Fantome yeast. Earthy woody pear. The kind you might expect to have rough skin. Like the pear equivalent of a Russet apple. I’m probably well wrong. Anyway. Whiff of bergamot. Taste has a toffee sweetness with herbal floral spicy bitterness. Good body with soft rolling carbonation. Spicy finish. Nice one. Always a treat to land on a Fantome.

Can. More Reasons. Hazed light lemony straw colour. Slim super sticky white foam. Nose has milky oats. Some greenery. Bit of NZ twang. Taste is light bitter with an inevitable milky sweetness (wouldn’t have got into Morrison’s without it?). Anyway overall it drinks easy. Light bitter finish. Good value on a drinkable bev.

Can picked up at the brewery by my mate Daz. Cheers pal. Fully smoothie looking ruby red. Fine suds of dirty pink. Nose has lots of bright sweet berry notes. Raspberry jam on toast thing going on. Some creamy notes, presumably of the oat addition. Taste is light sweet with dryness and a good fruit tartness. Very refreshing and quenching. I don’t get the coriander but there’s a touch of salinity in there. Juicy tart finish. Another solid bev from this outfit.
