Draft at Grote Dorst. It pours clear golden - blonde with a bubbly white head. The aroma is tangy fruity whisky character, boozey warmth, raisin, sultana, fruit cake, whisky fudge, toffee, toasty brown sugars, light funk and sweat. The taste is sweeter upfront than expected, whisky is right up there, raisin, sultana, toffee, fruit cake, creme brulé, custard, then there is a slap of acidity, puckering, lemon - lime, sherbet, white wine, gooseberry, oily and slick finale. Medium body and slick mouth feel. Love the combo here. I'm impressed it works.

Draft at Grote Dorst. It ain't a looker. It pours dirty muddy pond water brown with a few bubbles on the cap. The aroma is zingy, tangy, sherbet, damp grain, dirty basement, gooseberry fool, bran muffin, fruit pie crust. The taste is bracing acidity upfront, puckering, zingy, tangy, then it dries right out, super dry funk, basement action, haylage, quite spicy, has some of that gooseberry and white currant action. Finish is bone dry. Medium body and flat. Flavourful for sure, but quite challenging also.

Draft at Grote Dorst. It pours pretty clear muted golden with a bubbly white cap. The aroma is toasty grains, damp, musty, kitty litter, play dough, bready, here is some fruit, gooseberry and white currant. The taste is firmly dry, quite bracing acidity, enamel rip, puckering, gooseberry, sour white grape, sea buckthorn, tannin, musty, damp oak, deep funk and some chalky minerality. Medium body, flat and slick. Quite sharp up against the others we had in the lineup. A prickly unblended fella.

Draft at Grote Dorst. It pours like cloudy apple juice with a bubbly white head. The aroma is musty, dirty, damp basement, hay, cereal, touch of nuttiness, some soft sweetish baked goods, bread pudding and sweaty vibes. The taste is firmly dry, bright acidity, damp basement, deep funk, tannin, barnyard, lemony zing, lime peel, gooseberry, white grape, oily, white wine vinegar, sweaty, minerality and a touch of chalkiness. Finish is bone dry. Medium body and flat. Quite slick mouth feel. Like the bright citrussy twang to these with deep funk. I like it quite a bit.

Draft at Grote Dorst. It pours crystal clear like apple juice with a few bubbles on the cap, . The aroma is musty, sweaty, barnyard, some orchard fruits, woody, earthy, spicy, white wine vinegar and gooseberry. The taste is quite smooth, musty, damp basement, dull bitterness, barnyard, spicy, leafy, gooseberry, white currant, cheap white wine, deep bretty funk, some minerality and leather with a drying, damp leafy finish. Flat and slightly oily in the mouth. Pleasing texture to it. Quite an interesting unblended.

Keg at Beer Capital Brussels. It pours clear deep red with a decent fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet, juicy, tangy, loads of red fruits, jammy, cola.cubes, cherry cola, brown sugars and candy. The taste is smooth, juicy, crunchy cherry, cherry cola, jammy, blackcurrant, bramble, cherry drops, boozey warmth, tangy, light astringency and some rawness with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy. Better than the blonde I suppose, but nowhere the regular.

Keg at Beer Capital Brussels. It pours clear blonde with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is soft, bready, damp grain, quite sweet, sugary, rich tea biscuit, herbal and peasy. The taste is crisp, firmly dry, snappy, quite sweet, white sugary, rich tea biscuit, boozey, raw alcohol and some green veg/peas with a drying finish. Medium body and high, fluffy carbonation. Pretty rough around the edges. A fair step down from the classic.
