Inspired by the Belgian Flanders Red style, this beer was brewed with lightly kilned malts to produce a deep redden hue. Primary fermentation was undertaken using a strain of Brettanomyces which produces intense red berry aromatics and a balanced funk, followed by a special blend of our mixed culture which has produced a characteristic sweet and sour balsamic quality, typical of the style.

This base beer was refermented on locally grown Scottish blackberries and tayberries (200g/l).

Bottle shared at Ganz. Ruby pour, off white head. Nose is berries, dried fruits, leather and funk from the brett and some spice. Taste is moderately to heavily sour, showing lactic and acetic acids, funk and leather, some esters and big jammy berries. Closes with a tart, fruity and funky finish, had a light to medium, somewhat dry body and sparkling carbonation.

375ml bottle, best before 1st May 2031. Shared with three others at The Quarry Tasting on 17th July 2022, cheers Mike for this one. Murky red (crimson? No not really), wispy head. Red berries, semi-sour/tart, almost vinegar like.

375ml bottle @ Quarry Tasting. Thanks Mike for this. Aroma brings flanders intentions, with assorted hedgerow berries, blackberry taking a front seat. Decent berry presence to taste, nice gentle acetic presence, prominent flanders red sweet sour character, though could be bolder in feel.

Bottle at home it pours cloudy dark purple with a decent purple-khaki head. The aroma is sweet - sour, tangy, funky vibes, dark fruits, plum, prune, damson, jammy berry, blackberry, blueberry and fizzy cherry cola bottles. The taste is tart, sour, splash of acidity upfront, sherbet, fizzy cherry cola bottles, granny smith apple, sour berry, cherry, rapsberry, bramble, plum, damson, damp oak, red wine and some dull funk. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Works rather well. Good depth of dark fruit and berry.

Bottle, online from the brewery shop. Pours opaque deep dark red with a tight, foamy pink to beige head. Aroma: dark sour cherries, red fruits, wood, light funk, leather, balsamic hints. Taste: rich, sour, intense dark sour cherry. Sweet 'n' tart vibes. Bright, moderate sour, puckering. Again there are balsamic hints. Medium+ body with tight carbonation. Great stuff, although the intensity of it means that a 375ml bottle would be about as much as I could manage in one sitting.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Pours a surprisingly thick, raspberry jam red. Foam of pink. Nose has sweet balsamic. Ripe dark cherry. Vanilla. Leather. Light funk. Taste is juicy and sweet, with a woody, cherry stone tartness. Verges the right side of puckering, with soft, foamy carbonation. Bright and zingy throughout. Tart and juicy finish. Great stuff.

Keg at House of Trembling Madness Lendal. Deep cloudy ruby colour thin head. Sour. dark cherry flavour. went well with smoked almonds. Good light level if sour. not balsamic vinegar but sour finish goes on. I like the fruit. I like this style. one of my favourites. sweetness of fruit and malt. sourness to add an edge. Good beer.
