About
Note that the Thornbridge Hall series (largely one off and specials circa 2010-15) deliberately carry the Thornbridge name in their title.

Innovation Passion and Knowledge in all we do - and to have some fun along the way. The Thornbridge story began back in 2005 when the founders Jim Harrison and Simon Webster recruited two young brewers to brew on a second hand 10-barrel kit in the grounds of Thornbridge Hall. Soon demand outstripped supply and the need for a new Brewery became clear. In 2009 a brand new state of the art brewery was built at Riverside, Bakewell to meet with demand and allow Thornbridge to develop their range of beers.

Brewing still takes place today on the original kit at Thornbridge Hall, which allows us to experiment with new brews, create bespoke Hall brews, collaborations and assist the main brewery in Bakewell.

Bottled at The Globe, Central, HongKong. Almost clear golden, brief head. Grassy gooseberry aroma. Dry and light bodied. Crisp and fresh, richly hoppy and almost woody like a really dry chardonnay. Growing late bitterness. An unusually distinctive bottled English ale with a lot of character, yet retaining full drinkabaility. A class act!

Cask. Poured a clear around the edges very dark brown with a grayish brown head that lasted. Aroma had notes of alcohol, chocolate, roasted malts and a bit of coffee. Flavor began with dark grain and chocolate. Roasted malts grew throughout.

Cask. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, nectar, some floral notes along with rather sweet malts. Flavour is fruity, nectary, wooden and also has some mild toffeeish and bready notes. Rather balanced and nice for being only 3.5 % abv.

Cask@The Marble, Manchester. Clear reddy brown colour with a thin off white head. Nose had well defined hoppage and sweet malts all in proportion as did the flavour which had notes of cherry and nuts ; leading to a bitter finish that hit the spot very nicely. Clean, understated and tasty. Usual top quality from Thornbridge.

Cask handpull at White Horse, Parsons Green. I ordered this and because it was during a festival, they had no idea which pump the beer came from so I ended up with a half of golden beer in front of me and I had to say that this isn’t what I ordered as the pump clip for the Alecost clearly states that it is a stout and this is clearly not a stout. Should be a good pub, but the staff here do make me wonder sometimes. Not to my taste really. A bit too much of the liquorice and herb. Others at the table really liked it, but just a bit oily and too herby rather than a roasty dry stout which I prefer.

Cask handpull at The Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico. Gold, thin off white head. Some hop on aroma. OK body, bit of toffee, bit of hard toffee in the mouth, finish is slightly hoppy. OK. Quite biting on finish and really easy to drink as you would expect.
