2008 - 12th Release. Bright amber with a beautiful rustic head. Bright aroma has tropical fruit, light wood, plus breadcrust. Rich earthy character, only a hint of fruitiness. Breadcrusty notes. Well-balanced. Solid, unspectacular quality.

Bright amber with a thick, rich head. Deep woody aroma with earth, caramel, mushroom. One of those "forest after it rains" kind of brews. The flavour is bitter foremost - slightly resiny, slightly piney, quite woody. There is a sweet edge to it from crystal malt that takes on a muscovado character. In the finish you get all of the above, plus a brighter tangerine or tangelo note as well...and a slight bit of stickiness and alcoholic warmth. A little more "amber" than I prefer my IPAs, perhaps due to the limited amount of bright notes, but it’s a quality brew nonetheless. 7-4-7-4-14 = 3.6

Pitch black colour, tan head. Aroma is of bitter, roasted coffee and some fruits. Flavour is of roasted coffee and chocolate. Dry finish. Not balanced well to really stand out, but still enjoyable.

Bottle from Corks. Amber-red colour with a slight white head that left rings down the glass. Aroma of pine and grassy hops with some biscuit malt. Flavour had some juicy malt but was dominated by powerful, mouth-puckering hops. Excellent.

Sampled at the Odds and Ends Tasting II on 10/19/07: The beer is a clear copper-amber color with a medium off-white head that dissipates slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Big piney hops aroma with caramel malt and herbs. Medium body with earthy malt and herbal hops flavors. Hints of citrus fruit and dough too. The finish is moderately bitter and leaves a lingering hoppiness. Solid all around.

Very dark brown with a creamy off-white head. Fruity aroma with some caramel and roasted notes alond with grassy/floral hops. Dry, roast and burned flavour along with a nice hop flavour.

Yeasty lemon aroma. Amber color, no head. Delicious hop flavor of grass and dandelions, a little buttery. Finishes with rice. This is one of those beers that just tastes good but offers nothing else. It’s a nice low budget beer for hopheads.

Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Pub in North Huntingdon PA this beer poured a dark caramel-amber color with a small tan head. The aroma was light, dry and had floral and fruity hop elements. The flavor was dry, sharp and bitter with a strong floral and a mild fruity hop presence and not a whole lot of malts to balance it out. The finish was dry, bitter floral hops.

24 oz. bottle from mreusch. Pour is orange amber, clear with a one inch off white head. Aroma of resin hops, malt and a touch of pine. Taste is big, resinous hops. Bitter from start to finish. Nice earthy / orange peel after taste. Pick up on some black pepper spice. Nice and complex beer. Cheers Matt!

Sierra Nevada’s anniversary offering is a clear dark amber color with a medium light beige head that burns off slowly. patches of lacing. Aroma of piney hops, citrus and earthy malt. Medium-bodied with pine, floral hops and doughy malt flavors. The finish is hoppy with a malty and lightly nutty aftertaste. Pretty enjoyable overall.

On tap at the Sharp Edge Beer Emporium. Has a mild sweet strong ale aroma that seems like it’s gonna kick. Ever so slightly darker than the ubiquitous pale yellow beer. Tea froth head. Barely any carbonation. First taste is quite bitter and unrefined. Each sip leaves a bitter bite on the back of my throat. Much more than expected. Could qualify as an IPA, then oh, I see that it is! I thought this was a fest beer from the label. Perfumy aftertaste. Overall, a little too much for my girlie taste buds. Bitter lingering medicinal finish.
