Re-rate Wooden, vanilla, marzipan, oranges and nut aroma. A bit belgian yeast funk. Hazy dark red brown, stable white lacing head. Heavy malt, burned coffee hops and wooden spices. Cognac, fruit, wood, raisins - fire in the end. Medium heavy and oily. Wooden aftertaste. Powerfull stuff - slowly gets too much though.

Bottle: Poured a light dark beer with a huge head with excellent retention. Aroma is comprised of sweet plums and some nice malt. Taste is quite wonderful with again the plums/raisins sweetness being noticeable. It ends with a wonderful warm feeling. Overall, this is a very good barley wine and would like to taste this again on a warm winter night.

A pitch black beer with a chocolate brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted bread and chocolate. The flavor is lovely: sweet malty with loads of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee.

2004 Edition: Sampled 11/6/04. Still has the hallmarks of a very young barley wine. Pours a rather lighter brown than one would expect. Looks is very inviting, like a soda, but once you taste... I get impressions of brown sugar and maple syrup, but not too much. No complex aged components yet, but it still carried a good bit of IPA hops. Much more drinkable to the beginner (like my brothers and father who tried it for the first time) than one would expect of a big beer.

Bottle. Golden beer with a faint spiciness in the aroma. Malt and grassy flavors but light and refreshing. Better than your typical lager, but not by much.

Bottled, thanks SpringsLicker!
Very dark brown, firm creamy beige head. Roasty, coffee aroma. Dry and earthy, rich on choclate. Medium bodied. Hoppy and lightly citric with pleasant, soft, bitter finish. A clean and very classic porter.

Bottle Pours a very dark brown with verly little head or lacing and barley enough carbonation to feel. Aroma is a subdued coffee, nutty, and dark chocolate. Tasteed a bit plain with no real strong flavors. Coffee and dark roast grain. Not verry sweet. Slightly nutty and tasty in general. Finish was pleasant and smooth. A nice porter.

Not bad, but not really overly inspired either. +++Sampled from a 12 oz bottle this beer poured a pale yellow color with no real head to speak of. The aroma was light and of course hoppy - but really fainter than I would have thought. The body is light an kind of thin and watery which I found to be a real disappointment. The flavor was hoppy and mildly wheaty with a a bready aftertaste.
