Description
Williams Bros Brewing Company is a Scottish family-owned microbrewery, founded and operated by brothers Bruce and Scot Williams.
The Williams Bros. Brewing Co. started life in the humble ‘Glenbrew’ homebrew shop in Glasgow. The first beer brewed was the ‘Fraoch’ Heather Ale at a small 5-barrel brewery in Taynuilt, After the 2nd year of brewing in the Taynuilt brewery and with demand far out stripping supply the brothers decided to expand and also to diversify the range with five Historic Ales. These ales were produced at the new purpose built brewery and premises in Craigmill, Strathaven from 1998-2004.
In 2004 the brothers took over the ‘Forth Brewery’ at Kellibank, Alloa where Maclay’s had been contract brewing and packaging their beers since the sale of their old Alloa brewery. It was at this stage in proceedings that Heather Ale Ltd became Williams Bros. Brewing Co.

I think it's called Joker because it exploded when I opened it. It's good though! As good as the regular version, I reckon.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from the local Aldi. Pours clear gold with a foamy, pure white topping. Light sweet flavour with subtle notes of lemon peel, pine needles, lean pale malts. Not very expressive but not bad. Light bodied with average carbonation. Lightly sweet to finish, some crispy pale bread, more citrus peel and soft pine. Basic but drinks fine.

Can from Aldi. Clear gold with small white top. Aroma of pine, spice, citrus and malt as standard but a good freshness for a cheap craft beer. Taste of grapefruit zest, lime, pine resin and needles, malts. Medium bodied, crisp bitterness. Enjoyable.

Lightly misted gold with small consistent white head. Aroma of citrus, stone fruits, light pine and grains. Taste has an overripe peach and melon with some tangy tropical notes. Background has a flaky malt, pine and light minerals. A touch watered down in flavour and little lighter on body. Drying moderate bitter finish. Its ok.

440ml can. Semi-hazed gold with light wispy top. Aroma is very citric with lemon, mandarin, light funk, kiwi, light spice. Taste as mentioned in previous review has a certain tinny quality - pineapple, mandarin, pear with a slight yeasty near lemon tang running through. As a NEIPA its poor although as a beer from Aldi its more towards the top end!

330ml can from Beer52. Pours a semi-hazed gold with small white head. Aroma of grapefruit, passionfruit with hint of lemon, pine and flora. Taste of grapefruit, oats, lemon, pine. Somewhat light in flavour but pleasant. Light bodied but not watery and has a certain slickness to it. Its decent for the strength although nothing stand out.
