Description
During August 2006 Jarrow BrewPub set up a second brewpub, using a 12½BBL plant. This was opened at The Maltings Brewery Tap & Westoe Brewhouse, 9 Claypath Lane, South Shields NE33 4PG. Brewing ceased at The Maltings when the brewery relocated to its new location in Summer 2014. The brewery closed in Summer 2015.

4.1 jarrow. Cask at the Kings Arms Sunderland. Pours hazy golden amber with a thin white head. Aromas of caramel, little else. Taste is light sweet. Chalky finish.

Cask at the Haltwhistle Comrades Club. Yellow gold with a sizeable head. Grassy and slightly medicinal aroma. Taste is bitter/sour with a regrettable acrid, almost bilious finish. In perfect condition, but not a recipe I particularly enjoyed.

Cask at George & Dragon, Heighington. Golden amber colour, white foam head leaving lacing and citrusy aroma. Flavour is malt caramel with some biscuit and tangy citrus hoppy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry lingering bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Cask at the haymarket. Pours clear pale gold, thin white head. Lemon barley water aromas, lemon bitter taste, light maltiness at the back. Decent body. Sweet finish.

Cask at the Quakerhouse, Darlington. Clear golden colour, foam white head leaving alittle lacing and aroma of fruity hop. Taste is caramel, straw, biscuit with fruity citrus hoppy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, fruity hop finish. Quite drinkable.

Cask at The Little Angel, Whitby, UK. Pours pours golden with creamy off-white head. Citrus, fruity with malty sweetness. Very drinkable. Good one.

Cask at the Duck in the Pond (Ember Inns), Harrow. Light amber with a thick white head. Quite resinous. Good bitterness from the off. Fruity behind- orange mainly. Lasting bitterness afterwards. Decent bitter.
