Day 8 in BA. We are grilling today for Christmas eve, err... usando la parrila. All my beers are fridge singles, some better than others.
Extra frothy, orange hazy tulip pour back at the Buenos Aires BNB. Best by May 26 stamp, so let's say it's 7 months old.
Very mellow hop nose profile. Earthy & herbal.
Decent grapefruit & bittergreen flavor. Malt is crackmeal & very dry. Something like iodine. Saltines on the residual & white pepper. Sticky oregano & bitter beer face on the finish. Feel most of that 6.6%.
Okay enough.

Antares scotch ale 6%
Super not fresh 11/02/26 best by, so February. I think I got this on a buy 1 get 1 70% deal, so less than 2k, about $1.33.
Tulip glass at the bnb.
Lovely dark caramel or black tea sort of pour. Inch of tan creme head.
Caramel & some dark malts upfront, toffee & gentle spice nose.
Taste is butterscotch with some creme. Background of dark & slightly charred malts, moderate-minus earthy bitterness, lingering burnt caramel that's kinda good. Some faint metallic note on the tail dips the score.
Fizzy, frothy, thin, easy for 6%.
Overall, a nice heavier beer in a sea of cheap Quilmes.

Can on 5th April 2025, received as gift. Pours a hazy amber with thick yellowy white foam. Sophisticated aroma of peel and pungencies. Sweet stone fruits and zesty citrus peels in-mouth. Tangy and grassy finish. Remarkably smooth mouthfeel and a full body.

On tap at Antares Palermo, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is a bit clumsy, with bready caramel malt and resinous hops in okay balance. Flavour is alright, with resinous hops, light pine, and big dry bready malt. The balance is fine, it's just that the hop expression isn't anything special—a little dull and lacking vibrance. Okay.

On tap at Antares Palermo, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma seems washed out, with a soapy, floral hop character and dry bready malt. Flavour is better than the nose suggested, with soft, floral hops, dry straw and a hint of pine. Clean and drinkable. Solid.

On tap at Antares Palermo, pours a deep dark brown with a small creamy tan head. Aroma is subdued, with light oats and a hint of cocoa. Flavour seems a bit off, with some dextrose-like artificial sweetness, oats, and light metallic notes. This one doesn't work.

On tap at Antares Palermo, pours a clear dark amber orange with a small beige head. Aroma is quite malty but not sweet or syrupy, with bready malt and toasted caramel. Flavour is rather dull, with bready malt and a hint of toasted caramel. Lacking body, depth and complexity but nothing particularly wrong here.
