Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a medium sized foamy tan head and good lacing. There’s malts and chocolate in the aroma plus a hint of blackberries. In the mouth it is pleasingly sweet, smooth and creamy. Flavours are roasted malts, dark fruits and chocolate with a trace of liquorice coming later. Sweetness lasts into the finish. This is quite nice.

Cask at Queen Inn, Winchester. Clear gold. Frothy foamy white head. Aroma has spice, hay, malta... a berry edge. Flavourwise it's quite bitter with a sour edge. Mirrors the aroma with added quinine. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. Nice enough without being an inspired or original beer.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#83. Another local find, although not my favourite style. Gassy, bordering on fruity, but not quite, hint of floral in aroma. Fine as lager goes, better than macro options.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#79. Another traditional brew from the isle. Deeper clear golden. Hoppy notes with a light bitterness and some caramels too. Found at the beautiful Bugle Inn, in Yarmouth, but probably doesn't warrant a listing. Sixth beer in the local pub collaboration beer festival this weekend.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#61. First poorer weather beer, warm though. First tried this at the Eccles Cross, Manchester. Clear mid-brown with a thick creamy head and a bready.malt-hop character, also a fair bitterness. Mildly sticky-sweet texture. Drank opposite Sandown pier.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#52. First in West Cowes. Clear golden, excellent body and strength without compromising on flavour. Hoppy IPA with tasty sugars.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#48. More traditional a monastic beer taste than its sister 'Apiary Ale", both available at Quarr Abbey and a lovely place to sip both. Plenty of strength, lots of flavoursome pale Belgian style malts.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#40. On the terrace at Goddards Brewery. No rip tides, just beautiful countryside. Clear copper colour, small carbonation, malty red ale, evident in both aroma and taste. Sweeter nose, watery-bitter aftertaste.
