22oz bottle-shared @Small Tasting at my place-pours black with red tint and a rich/foamy tan head. Aroma is resin, 2nd sweet dark malt-roasty. Taste is sweet resin/pineapple hops with some bite, cocoa/chocolate/roasty-dark malt. Taste is more complex than the nose. Ok carbonation. As it warms, some licorice too.

draft - Pours hazy orange with a long lasting off-white head. It has a citrus hop aroma and a corresponding flavor with nice grapefruit notes. There’s also a good malt backing and this medium bodied brew finishes with the expected lingering bitterness. It’s quite good. I don’t really understand the low ratings.

Bomber pours deep rutty amber with minimal head. OK, let’s crack this Riddler. In the aroma I get big smashed cherries, brown sugar simmering plums and pomegranates as well as lesser amounts of earthiness and Christmas like spices. The taste is similar with bold cherry, plum and pomegranate fruitiness edged with a bit of roasted malts, earthiness and some yeasty spiciness. This is a bold fruity brew where yeasty spices and pomegranate tang attempt to balance the sweetness.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 11/22/11

Aroma: The nose has a big citrus/orange component, along with some pine, resin, and caramel notes
Appearance: This one pours a copper-orange color with a beige head and some fairly heavy lacing
Flavor: The taste is medium-heavy sweet, its fairly citrusy, and has a nice pine/resin hop bitterness bite
Palate: This is medium-full bodied, with a sticky and creamy feel, average carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a very solid IIPA. It exceeded my expectations. From the first pop of the bottle it left a good impression, as it has a really nice initial nose. The rest of the beer is also quite solid, but it doesn't live up to the nose. Still though, it is a very solid DIPA.

Bomber pours clear copper with full tan head. The aroma has some sweet citrus hop notes and some melon mixing with mild Belgian yeasty spices as well as pear and apple like esters. At times I seem to get some pine hops too. The taste is nice and chewy grapefruit hops, malt sweetened tangelo and then rolling toward increasing levels of bitterness. I only get the faintest spicy Belgian yeast notes before robust levels of bitter resiny pine hops take over. Tasty stuff with a pleasing balance between flavor hops and bitter hops and only light amounts of a Belgian yeast influence. I like it like that.

Bottle. Deep golden color, reluctant off white head with poor retention. Aroma of grass and crab grass. Taste is extremely bitter with just a tad of citrus and funk. Interesting. Better as it warms.
