Super deep amber coloured body with a bright orange glow and a nice, five centimetre tall tan head - very nice looking for the style. Aroma of toasty malt, earthy and resiny hops with a touch of grapefruit and citrus. Medium-bodied; Nice rich malty flavour with a lot of alcohol, some citrus and herbal notes and an earthy, alcohol flavour with a hint of spice. Aftertaste shows mostly a deep european lager with a lot of alcohol and a decent amount of flavour, but not much complexity. Overall, a nice interesting bock with a lot of alcohol, a good amount of flavour at first, but not much deep complexity. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 11-March-2012 for US$3.95 sampled at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 14-April-2012.

A clear brown porter with no head. In aroma, a strange beany chocolate, a bit off and unpleasant. In mouth, a smooth peaty chocolate with light acidity lingering, watery and boring. On tap at Farmhouse Tap and Grill, April 7, 2012.

Yeesh, this had a lot of issues. Smells like old cider and raisins. Color is fine but not overly appealing. The taste is alcohol and raisins, not very enjoyable.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 3/23/12

Aroma: The nose has some honey, a decent amount of yeast, and quite bit of spice
Appearance: The pour is a cloudy gold-orange color with a small white head and light lacing
Flavor: The taste is rather sweet as well, with a big spice presence, and minimal bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, with a soft carbonation, and a rather sticky feel on the mouth
Overall Impression: This was a decent, though heavily sweet, example of a Tripel. It wasn't a favorite for me, but it was a decent one.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 3/17/12

Aroma: The nose has some roasted malts, a little smoke, and some fruity hints
Appearance: This one pours a dark reddish brown color with a small head
Flavor: The taste is smokey and roasted malts most, it tastes much like the nose
Palate: The body of this one is medium, it has an average carbonation, and a decent drinkability
Overall Impression: This was an interesting one for sure. I have no clue how to classify it, and while I did find it interesting, I didn't find it to be a standout. It's certainly well worth trying.

12 oz. bottle from Julio’s Liquors. Served at cellar temp. Amber color with lots of floating yeast and particles floating around the glass. Sizable, white fluffy, lasting head. Decent lace. Sweet malt and citrus hop nose. Very straight forward brew. Balanced malt and hops. Has more of a hoppy APA feel to me, rather than IPA. Mild lingering hop finish. But honestly, people have rated this really harsh. It’s not bad, just standard.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 3/9/12

Aroma: This one has a fairly subtle nose, with some malty notes, earth, and some grass
Appearance: Pours a dark orange-caramel color with a half finger of white head and no lace
Flavor: It has some light malt sweetness that's dominated by a medium-heavy earth/grass hop bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, with a bit of a slickness, some on the mouth, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: This one will serve as my 2100th rating, so that's kind of a milestone (I guess). Anyway, the hops here are certainly assertive. Perhaps it could have used a little more balancing malts, but I won't fault them for attempting a assertively hopped beer. Still though, this one just didn't seem to have any of those big citrus, pine, or resin hop notes that I usually enjoy in this style. The hops are certainly anything but missing, but they are less aromatic and more just straight bitter then I tend to prefer from this style. This was a good attempt at a IIPA, but it didn't quite succeed.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 2/24/12

Aroma: The nose has some nice citrus/grapefruit, with some lemon, pine, Belgian yeast, and spice
Appearance: Pours a mostly clear dark orange color with a small bubbly white head and light lace
Flavor: Tastes less "bright" then the nose, rather yeasty, with some light sweetness, and medium bitterness
Palate: It's body is fairly light for the style, it has a low carbonation, is quite smooth and highly drinkable
Overall Impression: I thought that this one was going to be more exciting then it turned out to be. The nose made me think I was going to be drinking a beer with a bright grapefruit/citrus feel, but the beer I got had much less of that in the flavor. It was still present, but the flavor was yeastier then it was citrusy. It's still a decent beer, but the expectations from the nose are not quite met.
