Our beer is brewed across two sites. The first is our original brewery at the Old Flax Store, this is where we began our journey in 2014, and is home to our LDS tap room. We expanded into our second much larger brewery, Sydenham Road, in April 2017. Between both sites we can brew up to 18 beers at a time.
The Old Flax Store is a Grade II listed building located in Holbeck, the spiritual heart of the industrial revolution. In 2014 we turned this derelict mill into a brewery, tap room and events space. This building is home to our first brewery, which takes up the ground floor of the building. Our second brewing site is also located in Holbeck, half a mile away at Sydenham Road, where 8 x 100HL conical FVs enable our total capacity at this site to reach 24,000HL.

One-third pint, tap at the brewpub. Coal black body, tiny fawn-coloured head leaving spotty lacing behind. Smoked malty nose, hints of brown sugar. Brown and black malty flavours carefully smoked. Developing, lingering finish of mid-sweet peat with a twist of chili. Full bodied. A tasty, well balanced brew (Leeds Holbeck 07.07.2015).

Third, served from tap in a fine drinking temperature at the brewpub. Decent tan-coloured head blanketing the glass. Jet black body. Roasted aroma of coffee beans. Wood, ash, dark chocolate and coffee to the taste buds. Roasted bitterness to the ending. Fine bodied. Good drinking (Holbeck Leeds 07.07.2015).

Tap, one-third pint at the brewpub. Hazy yellow body, patchy layer, spotty lacing. Lemony hops and tropical fruits on the nose followed by a taste profile of ripe citrus, mandarin and pine leading a dry and mild bitter ending. Fresh and nice, easy to drink (Holbeck Leeds 07.07.2015).

Cask. Shakespeare’s, Sheffield. Clear, dark ruby red. Blotchy, bubbly, tan head. Yep. Very peaty. Earthy, dried fruit and tobacco leaf. Has a light, woody smokiness. Taste is vinous sweet. Mild, woody bitterness. Palate is fairly light, given the ABV. Lots of lip stickage. Finishes fruity dry. Enjoyed this one.

Craft Tottenham Court Road. Cask. As ’Hatoful Boyfriend - Black Session IPA’. Lightly hazy deep red - amber beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Palate is light and pretty dry. Modest carbonation. Mellow dark chocolate malts. All sorts of berry fruits here, red berries, blackcurrant and blackberries, a general fruits of the forest vibe. Mild piney hops and a trace of hop spice. A thoroughly decent little CDA but the palate is too bloody dry.

660ml bottle. Curious Hop, Otley. Very hazy, pale copper colour. Barely a head, although what there is sticks to the glass. Aroma is resinous, rich, orangey hop. Some herbal, erring toward minty character to it. Spicy, biscuit, toffee malt backdrop. Taste is juicy bitter. Some sticky sweet. Soft carbonation matches the rich aroma well. All of that on the finish, with a little dryness on the close. Drinks under the ABV. Nice one.

Cask at CPK - London. Pours clear, deep reddish brown with a dense, lasting beige fluff head. Good roasted malt aroma with touches of burnt nuts, earth, pine. Light sweet flavor with sturdy bitter chocolate, some damp earth, burnt pine, wood, old grass. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly oily on the finish, with more bitter cocoa, muddy earth, grass, hints of mould and rot, orange rind. Not bad overall.

Cask at CASK. It pours darkest brown with a decent beige head. The nose is roasted malt, aniseed, charred pine, dankness, dark fruits and cocoa. The taste is rather bitter, charred pine, woody, earth, rich roast, mild astringency, peppercorn, liquorice, touch of coffee and citrus rind with a bitter-dry lingering finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. Rather nice low-boost cda.

Cask at Craft Beer Co, Covent Garden on 21st June 2015. Slightly hazy gold with thin off-white foam and scant lacing. Fruity floral hop and malt aromas. Hoppy and fruity with caramel malt in-mouth. Finish continues the same theme before fading quickly to leave a grassy residue with some rear-mouth bitterness. Light, somewhat oily mouthfeel and light body.

Tap@CBC Clerkenwell, London (03/06/2015) - pours orange amber with a white head. Aroma and taste comprises sweet tropical fruits, prominent grapefruit, tangerine, citrus peel, with good malty backbone, caramel, toffee, resinous hoppy, pine needles, bitter finish. Great stuff.
