Description
The City of Cambridge Brewery was founded in 1997 and specialises in selling premium bottled and draught beers. It was the first independent brewery to open in Cambridge after an absence of 25 years. Originally based in Cheddars Lane Cambridge, in 2001 it expanded into larger premises at Chittering.

We use inspiration from the beautiful City of Cambridge to name our products, which are available on draught at selected local pubs and also in bottles for you to take home and enjoy.

Brewing ceased in the second half of 2007 with brewing being contracted out to a.o. The Wolf Brewery and Oxfordshire Ales. By 2010 brewing was all taking place at Elgood & Sons Ltd. In Autumn 2011 the brewery was taken over by Wolf and all brewing takes place there. In 2011 the business partnered with WBC (Norfolk) to brew and bottle our beers to expand capacity to meet the growing demand for the iconic brands.

Bottle that I purchased at Waitrose, Nr Cambridge June 09, consumed at Cropredy Festival, Oxon, 14-08-09 This was really quite strange to drink this after Pizza Port Shark Attack, JW Lees Harvest (sherry cask) and other such big hitters. Pours amber with white head, hoppy citric nose. Earthy hoppy and malty flavour, nice bitterness, its fine. A6 A3 F6 P3 Ov12 3.0

50cl bottle from Waitrose Cambridge. Amber with a rapidly fading off-white head; aroma of honey and grain; some honey and caramel malt flavours to start, but these are rapidly overtaken by a clean zingy bitterness with traces of citrus and straw, giving a long finish. Excellent.

Bottled. A hazy orange-amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of straw and caramel, as well as light notes of fruit. The flavor is sweet malty with light notes of burnt malt and herbs as well as a slight acidity, leading to a dry bitter finish.
