Cask @ Victorian Craft Beer Café, Halifax. Very dark red with a thin off-white head. It’s very light in terms of ’stout’ character, but is an inoffensive easy to drink darker malts ale. Maybe a touch thin.

Bottle from Bottle Baron. Dark brown body with a thin beige head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of charred wood, black pepper plum and chocolate. Flavour of chocolate lime, roasted malt and menthol. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. An interesting Porter with lots going on.

Cask. Shakespeares, Sheffield. As Cloudwater Winter Range - Bitter. Hazy, light brown. Thick, bubbly, off white head. Certainly doesn’t smell like a traditional bitter. This has lemon and grapefruit. Some peachy notes. Lots of new world hoppage. Taste is light, juicy bitter. Crisp palate. Light, fruity bitter finish. Like a bitter, minus the farty malts. Good.

Bottle at Urban 1/4, Kelham Island. Light yellow, hazy. Plentiful carbonation but little head. Slightly musty grapefruit, candy sugar and sourdough bouquet. Sweet fruity taste with enough bitterness in the finish for balance. Pear drops in the aftertaste. A masterpiece.

Bottle - from notes. Nose was surprisingly bitter and off-style, with a citrus and tangerine aroma, alongside caramel and grass notes. Tastes were caramel, grass, honey, biscuit, but and uneven and pronounced hop pine bitterness in the finish. Not a bad beer, but suffers from the same problem of other Cloudwater beers I’ve had, where it feels like a load of modern hops have been dumped into the beer, with little consideration for the effect and the beer was dreadfully unbalanced as a consequence.

Bottle picked up at Cotteridge Wines, Cotteridge, Birmingham last weekend, consumed at home Saturday 9th January 2016 Pours Hazy gold edging towards orange with a large billowing head of foam. Mango and pineapple cubes combine on a very tropical nose. In the mouth this is really juicy, dangerously drinkable for 8%, the pineapple dominates in the mouth with a little sweet orange. Lovely bitterness, great beer.A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0 I had this again at Merton Winter Beer Festival Fri & Sat 26th & 27th Feb’ 2016 in Keykeg. I don’t have much more to add to comments above, other than to say this is a really superb beer, wonderful mouthfeel, the tropical fruits are just singing in the aroma, great beer, score upped as a result.
