Description
Labatt has deep roots in Canada stemming from its founder John Kinder. In 1847, a little more than a decade after arriving in London, Ontario from Ireland, John Kinder Labatt purchased London's Simcoe Street brewery in partnership with Samuel Eccles and by 1855 had become the brewery's sole proprietor. The brewery was later renamed John Labatt's Brewery, marking the beginning of one of Canada's largest and most successful companies.

In 1995, it was purchased by Belgian brewer Interbrew. Labatt is now part of the new company, Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev).

As Labatt Blue 0,5%. Six pack at Wal·Mart Kelowna (BC, Canada.) Pours clean bubbly pale golden with a white foamy head that lasts but a second. Aroma is low: rocket, bread, iron. Mouthfeel is light, fizzy, not watery. Refreshing, almost no bitterness. Quite long-lasting. Not so bad.

Six pack from Market Basket. Solid dark brown in color with a thin tan head that persists. Rich roasty coffee aroma and flavor with hints of dark fruit earth and touch of tartness. Tasty as always.

I picked up a couple cans of this because there wasn't much else to choose from at the bodega in St Barbe and it said it was brewed in NL. Brilliantly clear pale yellow color with a bubbly white head. Grainy malt faint hops. Cold and wet works but otherwise look elsewhere.

Better than Bud Light.

24 ounce can into lager glass, canned on 11/10/2017. Pours crystal clear medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Good appearance. Aromas of cracker, corn, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and light herbal/grassy earthiness. A bit fruity aromas, but not overwhelming. Okay aromas with pale malt/corn and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of cracker, corn, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and light herbal/grassy earthiness. Light herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, corn, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and light herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and balance of pale malt/corn and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with no fruity/yeasty notes. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness/carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is good. A bit thin, but not watery finish. Very slight increasing lingering warmth of 5.6%. Overall this is a very solid pale adjunct lager. All around good robustness of pale malt/corn and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink for the ABV. Definitely a bit more flavorful than the base beer as expected. Clean pale malt/grains and solid earthy hop presence for the style. Solid barley presence, not too heavy on the corn. An enjoyable and well made offering.

Bottle.

Close to pitch black but I can see some red hues, nice off white head of foam, and even with the foam shrunk to a fine layer, there's good lacing.

Roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee aromas abound.

Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, light coffee, all nicely balanced. It's a Lot L so it was bottled in December. At 4 months, still a treat.

Mouthfeel is great, screw the nitro, and very drinkable. One of the standard bearers of the style.

341ml bottle. Pours a clear gold with a small, fizzy, short lived, white head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of grain and apple juice. Sweet flavour of apple, pear and light grain. Light body with a thin, watery texture and fizzy carbonation. Not great. If I didn't know better I'd swear this was carbonated apple juice.
