Dark brown coloured body, about 90% opaque with a smallish off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, coffee with some prominant high a.a. hops. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong roasty flavours run well, with some bitter nuttiness and even the hops come out as well. Aftertaste shows complexity and the roastiness lasts long while the sugars come out as well. Overall, much better than I had expected from a sub-par brewery. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 28-December-2004.

Thanks to Suttree for this one! Deep and dark with a tall mocha colored head. Roast malt aroma with lots of coffee. Full body with a flavor that starts with some roast malt bitterness and finishes with a nicely sweet, but subtle finish. One of Mendocino’s better efforts.

Opaque with dark tan head and sticky lacing - aroma of coffee, caramel, some spice and a hint of smoke - spicy to start, with medium mouthfeel and a hint of oiliness - cocoa is present throughout, as a growing hop presence, some woody and smoky flavors develop - finish is dry, leaving hops and cocoa mixing surprisingly well - a bit of caramel and toffee flavor springs up on the back of the tongue long after the swallow - a nice take on a porter indeed, and another beer that is generating respect within me for a brewery I once thought was really lame.

Amber ale with a sweet malty aroma and grass. Sweet malts in mouth, with some boiled corn (DMS?). Very little hops. A little nutty in the end. Lighter bodied.

Copper coloured body-slightly hazy with a medium-sized dense tan head. Aroma of slight low a.a. hops, caramel and caster sugar flavours with a good malt backbone. Aftertaste clean-nothing going, but a bit of caramel. Overall, a decent beer, definately different for the style, but worth a try! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from the Brickskellar in Washington, D.C. on 26-December-2003.

Slightly hazy orange/golden colour with a super thick soapy off-white head. Aroma slighly yeastie, slightly wheatie with a sweet pit fruit smell. Light-bodied; Subtle apricot/peach flavour with some maltiness and hardly any hops. Aftertaste clean, but shows some persistent sweetness. Actually, nice for the style-definately worth trying. I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Chevy Chase Wine & Liquor in Washington and sampled it on 30-November-2003.

Hazy orange/amber in colour with a nice dense off-white head. Plenty of aroma, basically just nice low a.a. hops and some biscuity malt. Actually smells like a Vienna to me. Light-bodied; High-Carbonation; Weak-Taste; Almost no flavour gets going in the mouth, and aside from a subdued maltiness...nothing shows in the finish. Overall, a stupid beer for me to buy, but I did it anyways. Not that it really needs to be said (as its a dumb gimmick beer), but this one really isn't worth buying! I got this twelve ounce bottle at Beers of the World.

This bear has so much carbonation that my mouth can hardly contain the foam generated with each sip, which is fitting considering the aftertaste kind of reminds me of dishwashing liquid. The initial taste isn't that bad, and the appearance is alright, so this brew isn't horrible. But it certainly isn't good either.

Light yellow body, with a little head that dissipated rapidly. Aroma was fresh, but not too distinct of grassy/hops. There was little taste to this beer. Light body, some grassy notes mainly, slight tinge of sweetness on the palate with a hint of hops at the finish. Nothin special here.

hmm, guess i'll have to try it again. had a bottle and didnt like it. WAY TOO MUCH carbonation. thin body, and not complex enough. just your basic amercan stout. roasty but not spectacular in any way. I didnt even want to finish this one.
