Description
The company was started by Richard Shardlow in 1992, who had previous experience with Greene King, Ruddles and Devenish. Andrew Jackson, formerly of Whitbread, started as joint director in 2000.

The brewery is known in the Home Counties for its cask ales, of which various styles are brewed at their location on Dunsley Farm in Tring.

Tring is a long-established small brewery, opened in 1992 in the Hertfordshire town of the same name. It was founded by Richard Shardlow, a vastly experienced brewer who had worked for Greene King, Ruddles and Devenish. He was joined in 2000 by Andrew Jackson, who had worked for Whitbread on the sales side and he rapidly expanded Tring’s base.

In 2010, the brewery moved from a cramped site near the town centre and is now based on Dunsley Farm, part of the Rothschild estate, on the edge of Tring.

Tring's core range of brews are themed around local Hertfordshire folklore, tying a local connection to their product.

[Cask at the Alehouse, Reading.] A pale amber pour with a thin white head; light citrus aroma; stronger citrus taste with some bitter grapefruit; and a pithy citrus finish. Not bad.

11th April 2023
Almost clear amber beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and has a decent fine minerally crispness. Smooth malts, a light creamy sweetness. Whisper of caramel. The quartet of US hops bring a smooth pine and a decent blend of modesty bright citrus and mellow citrus peel. Trace of tropical fruits. Light finish. There was a very vague whiff of esters at one point but nothing that bothered me again. A pretty crushable beer and unusually good for Tring!

hand-pulled half-pint at the Crown Inn, Oakengates on 11th March 2023. Light golden body, clean and clear; on top a snow white head. Surprise, surprise it has a citrusy front to it's aroma and taste, it's fine, but just yet another citrusy golden beer that seem to be every where in the UK currently.
