Description
The Gueuzerie Tilquin began operations in February 2009. It was 12 years that a new gueuze-producer had emerged in Brabant (the previous was Geuzestekerij De Cam in Gooik, which began in 1997).

The Gueuzerie Tilquin is the first gueuze blendery in Wallonia. The company is located in Bierghes (Rebecq), 200 meters from the linguistic border, and is directed by Pierre Tilquin. Pierre is bio-engineer and holder of a PhD in statistical genetics. He then followed an intensive course in brewing science in Leuven, and he had his experience at the brewery Huyghe (Melle), 3 Fonteinen (Beersel) and Cantillon (Anderlecht).

Bottle from the shop across the road from the Loon Factory. I think. Neck label states 2021/22. I’d guess this is the one and one version of this beer despite there being multiples on here. Anyfuckinghow. Misted orange gold. Slim but dense, lasting white foam. Nose is expectedly grapey and vinous. Woody stalk and such like. Lightly sulphurous. Some wheat and chalk. Taste is dry and semi tart. Very quenching. In fact it’s pretty mouth stripping in its dryness. Minimal acidity though. Light tart dry vinous finish. Good grape character throughout. I’m glad these are 375s to be honest.

Bottle. Gusher. Color: Hazy golden, white head. Aroma: Fruity gooseberry, grape. Subtle funky notes. Taste: Fruity gooseberry, lime, unripe grape and some apple. Old hop, a little bitterness. Over moderate tart. Rural funk. Some oak wood. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Ok, but not one of the best Family Tree Project Gueuzes in my opinion.

Lovely pour. Bone dry, quick and quenching cherry tartness, moderate acidity. Clean finish, quite drying, some slight seedy bitterness, tangy berry. A little salty. Tidy.

Draft @ Ostara beerfest - LaSource.

Bottels sample @ Ostara beerfest - LaSource. Merci Pierre!
