Originally rated February 2006. Pours a cloudy caramel-orange colour with a small foamy head, that at least left a ring around the glass and a bubbly coating. The nose is quite sour with notes of fruits, like red apples and plum. Watery mouthfeel and no carbonation. Interesting high ABV for this style, but not felt in the mouth, no burn. The taste just barely has sourness in the back, hidden somewhere. Mostly, the same apples and kind of lemony and acid. Good try, but I will stick with the Mort Subite if I want a gueuze lambic.

Originally rated March 2006. Wow ! This is quite the interesting brew. Pours a dirty brown colour, which reminds me of coffee mixed with water. Indian red highlights. The head is a beauty, off-white, creamy-bubbly, decent retention and leaves smudgy lacing. Looks pretty carbonated. A 2mm layer stays above the brew. The nose is a mix of raspberry and nutty malt. Very smooth and medium-bodied. The flavours are fruity with some berries, but has a nice touch of chocolat malts and nuts. Alcohol is well-hidden. Not really sweet and far away from being a fruit beer that seems a cooler. A very unique and recommended brew.

Originally rated March 2006. Pours a cloudy caramel-beige colour with a nice creamy white. Retention is great, so is lacing around glass. Big fat chunks of yeast flow around the brew, with the heavy carbonation, from top to bottom. Nice citrus nose with some Belgian yeast. Thin mouthfeel, almost watery. The taste is the same for most Schoune, one that I have a problem with (except for their maple one). Hard to describe, semi-sour and feels outdated, but is pretty constant in their brews. Wish I could taste the spices they are talking about. Citric flavours with some bitterness in the finish. Light tart in the aftertaste. This one is really not for me.

Originally rated November 2006. This triple witbier pours a cloudy golden-beige colour with a creamy slightly off-white head that has decent retention. The blizzrad-like carbonation is superbly active. Not much sticking to the glass. The aroma seems like the mix of a beer gone bad sourness with the fruit of a lemon. In other word, pretty sour. Very watered-down mouthfeel with absolutely no burn and quite flat. Seems like a 4% beer. The taste is tad better then the smell. A bit of spices appear with a mild sourness and a light orange flavour. Not impressed.

Originally rated November 2006. Pours a hazy golden-beige colour with a creamy white head that fizz. The carbonation is crazy-active. Very good retention because of that. Seems to have nice spices in the bottom of the bottle. Man, I don’t know what it is with me and Schoune always having an infected one. Read other reviews, and most people have decent brew. But me, slight urine stench for this one, with witbier yeast. Taste of rotten vegetable that is close to the beer I rated from Schoune a few nights ago. How can the brewery that makes the great maple beer, brew so many infected products ??!?

Originally rated November 2006. Finally, a Schoune brew that is above average and that does not seem infected (helping is the 8.5% ABV). Pours a black colour with a slim highlight of red. The head is brown and creamy, with good retention and nice mountainy lace. The main aroma I get is quite nutty, with some roasted malt, molasse, coffee and a bit of chocolat. Thick enough mouthfeel and full-bodied. Great taste of dark malts, roasted, chocolat and burnt. Also found is coffee, molasse and tobacco flavours. A very smooth Imperial Stout. I would have this brew anytime.

Medium beige head. Nearly opaque translucent red body. Roasty caramelly chocolate aroma with earthy pea notes. Parching dry sooty earthy taste with chocolatey notes. Light body. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dry, almost acidic, sooty metallic aftertaste. Yuck. Ridiculously dry and low in taste. (0.33l bottle shared by KnutAlbert.)

Originally rated January 2009. This citrus Saison pours a hazy beige-yellow colour with a decent white head, a little lacing, average carbonation, under-par retention. At first, the aromas were malty mixed with apples, but then, the citrus really came out. The mouthfeel is pretty thin and watery. The taste is on the light side too, with the mild fruits (apples and citrus) in the background. Not much aftertaste, and just a refreshing beer with lack of class.
