Bottle. Darkest brown color with tiny beige head. Aroma is green apple phenols, boozy, red fruits, raisins, chocolate, wood. Taste is Mon Cheri, wood, mild tannins. Silky mouthfeel with some chalky bite, with low carbonation.

Can at La Abadía, Madrid. A hazy orange pour with a bone-colored thick head. Aroma is peach, cookies, arugula, hints of orange peel. Dry onset, not too crisp. Heavy, full-bodied mouthfeel. Rather bitter, long-lasting finish.

33cl bottle. A black beer with a beige lacing. Aroma of mild sweet dark chocolate malt, liquorice, melasse. Taste of sweet strong dark malt, chocolate, caramel, melasse.

Bottle picked up from Bierkiste München. Had this at home listening to Tom Robinson Stand in for Marc Riley on 6 Music, we had a Pasta Carbonara for tea. Pours shark eye black, cappuccino coloured head. Roasted malts on the nose, along with some bitter chocolate, maybe picking up a little bit of barrel ageing but tricky to tell. Dark chocolate in the mouth, a little boozy, some brine, toasty and roasty flavours, not at all sweet, a bit different but good for that.

Bottle@Jens Spansk smagning (26/08/2022) - Smokey ashy roasted malty with notes of smoke, bbq meat, some burnt rye, whisky soaked wooden accents throughout, medium plus body, ashy Smokey malty finish. Not my thing.

Can from Gedeelde Vreugde. Hazy orange, small, foamy, off-white head. Aroma of ripe mango, grapefruit peel, peach, blood orange, apricot, dough. Taste has sweet peach, mango & apricot along bitter orange peel & grapefruit juice in a doughy malt body. Herbal & grapefruity hoppy finish, quite citrusy, bitter and a bit resinous, bordering on harsh. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Bit too harsh in the end for this type of beer but it does a good job.

Hazy black, small, foamy, dark beige head. Aroma of brown sugar, burnt caramel, chocolate sauce, hazelnut paste, date, candied plum, brandy. Taste has sweet date, fig & pear in a thick dark-chocolatey, fudge-like, bit nutty, but also brown-sugary malt body, very slight roasted bitterness for balance. Herbal hoppy finish, liquorice note but mainly lingering chocolate sauce, some sweet tobacco and boozy brandy-like alcohol. Full body, creamy texture, average carbonation. Moreish, yes, but really misses out on a decent roasted character.

Can consumed at A la bière comme à la bière, Saturday 3rd September 2022. Pours almost clear warm gold with a white head. Lots of Marmelade flavours, soft moutheel, lovely carbonation, nice bristling bitterness. Great.
