12 oz goblet draft at Red Door in Leawood, Kansas. The pour is a darker brown reddish with a well formed 1 inch tan head that falls slow with nice lacing. The aroma is softly sweet fruit malt, along with warming alcohol. The taste is a nice, clean simple Doppelbock - featuring the fruit malt of the nose, bit of caramel and the warming alcohol heat that accents the big malt character nicely. As the beer warms, a bit of yeast is evident. The palate is medium to heavy bodied, with natural active carbonation and a clean softly sweet finish. This style is often too sweet for me, this beer manages the sweet character well. Nice one.

6oz draft, dark golden color, strong head retention. Aroma is dry papery golden white bread malts. Lightly and appropriate lager sulpher. But very bright lager malts. Flavor is slightly white bread sweet malts that actually balances the otherwise dull and flawless lagering. Finishes with a slight bitterness. Now this is an O-fest I can drink. Though I would call this a Helles.

Draft at the Great Nebraska Beer Festival. Clear deep amber color, tan head. Aroma of burnt toast. Taste has toffee, caramel, subtle smoke. Nice.

Multiple ~3 oz samples at the Boulevardia Taps & Tastes in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is slight haze golden with a smallish white head. The aroma is fresh clean malt, clean Saison yeast, and a bit of citrus hop notes lingering nicely. The taste is a perfect balance of the clean crisp German malt, which is crackery, the citrus spice hops and the gentle clean Saison yeast taste tying it all together. Really nice balance of flavors. The palate is light to medium bodied, clean active carbonation and clean Saison yeast finish. This may have been the highlight of the festival for me, so clean, so easy to drink.

Several glasses from a growler filled two hours previously at the brewery in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a cloudy yellow with a white head that dissipated somewhat quickly. The aroma is clove, grassy wheat and banana yeast. The taste is the banana notes up front, followed with a nice mix of crisp wheat grain malt and more yeast of clove and banana esters. The palate is unfiltered, medium bodied with a lingering banana finish. Well made beer, very much to style, though a touch heavy on the banana notes for my personal taste.

Several glasses from a growler filled two hours previously at the brewery in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is crystal clear golden yellow with a well formed one inch white head. Pretty beer. The aroma is bread biscuit malt, along with grass. The taste is a simple and clean blend of the fresh bread slightly sweet cracker malt and the grass hops. The palate is medium to light bodied, active carbonation and a clean finish. Easy drinking beer, nice one.

4 oz draft at the Brewery in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is mostly clear golden yellow with a ½ inch white head. The aroma is cracker grain malt, light malt sweetness and a bit of the wood. The taste picks up the wood notes, oak, some butter along with the dry grain malt and the hint of sweetness of the Festbier. The palate is medium, a bit heavier than I remember the Festbier being, though finishes clean like the original. Solid.

Shaker pint draft at Talk of the Town in Leawood, Kansas. The pour is a haze brown copper with a smallish white head. The aroma is malty sweet, some hay and an initial blast of perfume fruitiness, which detracted. The taste is is caramel malt, some fruit sweet softness and a earth mineral in the back. The palate is medium bodied with active carbonation and the clean mineral finish. Nice, though the perfume fruit in the nose was off putting, though to be fair this seemed to be from the glass rather than the beer. I’ll find another place to try this one, and rerate.
