Description
In April/May 2021 Brouwerij Breugem ended its relationship with Brouwerij Hoop and moved to a new location back in Zaandam. A re-branding was implemented in October 2021, and a number of beers were given new names. Breugem Brewery will also continue as Breugem Bier. For the past few years, Breugem has been a client brewer at Brouwerij Jopen in Haarlem.
In 2023, Brouwerij De Prael Amsterdam Houthavens was taken over, making the dream of having its own brewery and tasting room come true. Part of the production continues to be brewed at Jopen Bier.

Slightly hazy golden colour, nice two finger frothy white head, good retention, some lacing. Aroma malts, spices, grass, orange, citrus. Taste medium sweet, slightly bitter, some citrus. Medium body, oily texture, good carbonation, moderate bitterness in the finish, fruity and spicy notes. Nice beer though not really a heller bock.

Black with creamy head. Aroma and flavour have plenty of roasted malts and a hint of dark chocolate. I don't get any heat but it a good beer nonetheless.

Bottle from Beerwulf. Pours a murky chestnut brown colour with a thinnish soapy looking beige head. Aromas of caramel and nuts. Taste is again more caramel and nuts with some added roasty notes. Medium bodied, fair amount of carbonation on the palate and a long roasty and bitter finish. One of the better Dutch bocks i have tried. Good

Black with lightly brown foam. Smell has a hint of chilli in there. Decent mouthfeel, some good carbonation. Taste is medium sweet, but with a nice and roasty bitterness underneath. Reasonably subtle spicy kick. Milky chocolate. Enjoyable!

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 29 Feb 2020) Dark amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of caramel, spices, ginger, anise and liquorice. Malty, spicy taste with caramel, anise, ginger, cinnamon and a slightly sweet and spicy finish with a mild bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. On the weird side, with lots of spices almost getting a bit too much. Still, enjoyable.

Bottle at home. Nice dark amber color, full sized beige head that lasts for quite a long time. Aroma is malts, caramalts, a bit dusty and light smoky hints. A handful of smoked malts in there perhaps? Flavor has it too, very similar. A slight sweet hint, but then overpowered by malty bitters, albeit mediate in the end. Very 'friendly' beer so to speak. Amber-bruine kleur, lichtgekleurde kraag. Aroma van anijs, trekdrop, iets moutig, smaakt ook zo, licht aardse zoethouttonen. Lichte body. Niet verkeerd maar ook niet heel spannend.
