Description
Nohoval Drinks Company also known as Stonewell Cider and Finnbarra Cider.
Founded by Daniel and Geraldine Emerson in 2010 the company has experienced considerable growth over the years in Ireland as Stonewell Cider and with our export brand Finnbarra Cider.
We have a small full-time team of traditional Irish cider makers here at Stonewell. Myself, Daniel, principal cider maker and apparently general run around. Géraldine, herself who keeps us on our toes! Ed joined us in 2018 and is one of our key traditional cider makers. With a great nose and palate for obtaining good blends, Ed works exceptionally hard to make sure that we as cider makers do a good job.

330ml bottle, drunk by the river. Deep golden amber appearance, off-white head. Aroma of a musty cellar full of old wooden casks, continues to taste. Old aged whisky notes emerge alongside a glowing mead-like oily sweetness. Grows on you.

330ml bottle from National Brewery Centre, Burton on Trent. Sparkling, pale gold colour, fizzy white foam head that quickly dissipates and aroma of fruity apple, fleshy. Taste is sweetish, fruity, apple juicy, with some light acidity. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, medium-sweet finish. Quite drinkable.

330ml bottle. Pours clear gold. Aroma of freshly picked apple fruit. Crisp on the palate, moderate crunchy flesh, nice medium sweetness, lifted by a bright carbonation. Pretty decent AF cider.

Panda at home, thanks to SHIG, 03/01/22. Clear golden copper with off white bubbles that cling to the edge of the glass. Nose is bitter sweet apples, caramel, alcohol, sherry notes, spice, light wood. Taste comprises apple pulp, hint of sherry, oak, toffee apple, light spice, orchard wood. Full bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close with a good rasp of alcohol. Solid drop ... warming alcohol in the close but balanced and not weighing in at the stated 15%.

Pours clear, pale yellow. Scent is full, medium sweet apple. Medium low intensity. Taste is full, surprisingly dry, apple (skins) . Bit simple perhaps. not bad, bit spice-like finish. Aftertaste has sweetener, it seems ( stevia-like) that really sticks around and ends the experience with a less-desired feature.

24/10/2021. Bottle sample courtesy of danlo, cheers Ed! Pours clear deep amber with no head. Aroma of rich apple, toffee, spicy hoppy notes, edge of rubbing alcohol. Medium sweetness, mild bitterness. Full bodied, sticky texture, low carbonation. Packs quite a punch. Warming alcohol finish. Good.
