Bottle from Colonial Spirits Inky Black with a decent sized tan head. Big coffee and roasty chocolate on the nose as well as a touch of dark caramel vanilla and stone fruit. Flavor follows the aroma but adds just a touch of warming alcohol in the finish. I’ve never seen this brewery for sale up here before, I’m glad I took a chance on this beer, its pretty damn good~!

4 oz pour on draft at Spacebar. Clear golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of citrus and floral notes. Tastes of citrus, floral notes, malt, candied fruit. Medium body with a dry finish. Solid if you’re into maltier IPAs.

Total Wine, Fairfax bottle: pours copper with a white head. Aroma is pightly smoky and sugary. Taste is slightly soured. Bunch of rauchbier style smoke. Everything off balance. This is coming from someone who is a bog fan of the rauch. Really did not like it.

Rich copper coloured body with a thinnish, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of alcohol, pine, resin, grass, grapefruit and a touch of yeast mixed with bread. Full-bodied; Piney flavour with some grapefruit and herbal notes right behind. Metal, alcohol, dry oak and some white grapes then dominate with the alcohol the strongest. Aftertaste shows a very dry, herbal, grassy finish with a ton of hop bitterness, quite a bit of alcohol warmth and a herbal flavour that shows just about no sweetness at all. Overall, a pungent and long-lasting Imperial IPA with perhaps a touch too much alcohol and metal notes and not enough sweetness and complexity. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 05-July-2015 for US$2,99 sampled at home in Washington on 03-November-2015.

12 ounce bottle. Hazy oppression color topped by a small creamy beige head. Faint toasted malt nose has a hint of cinnamon. Flavor is a amalgamation of roasted squash, cinnamon, maple syrup and herbal hops. Obvious alcohol upfront. Earthy, dark sugar comes through in middle. Bittersweet woody funk in finish. Rather unique flavors at play. Interesting and worth seeking out.
