Bottle shared with JMD and SM on board Fridtjofen at Tau slipp og båtbyggeri 31.08.17. Clear golden. Small head. Superbly inviting aroma of fine semi-dry cider with a hint of leather and raspberries. Very good!

Med Fridtjofen på slipp på Tau: flaske fra Vinmonopolet Jørpeland, delt med skibsrederen og seremonimester Melberg: klar gylden med kort skum. Superfrisk sroma og smak av epler og nyplukkede bringebær. Perfekt følge til den stekte makrellen (med agurksalat og små nypoteter) vi hadde.

Draught @ Westtown Brew Works, Clear very pale yellow with almost no head, striking peach aroma, very sweet taste with peach flavor, smooth body, longish finish. Very easy to drink, and very peachy.

650 ml bottle, as Doc’s Draft Pumpkin Hard Apple Cider, from Vinmonopolet Jørpeland. ABV is 6%. Pale golden colour, moderate carbonation, no head. Interesting aroma of apples, roasted pumpkin and spices (cinnamon, allspice, fresh ginger and nutmeg). Fairly sweet flavour, notes of dessert apples, pumpkin jam and mild spices.

Flaske fra Gulating Stavanger, delt med skibsrederen ombord på Fridtjofen mens vi lager oppskrift til morgendagens brygging: klar lys gylden med kort bruseskum. Liflig aroma med kanel og lær i tillegg til de gode eplene. Meget frisk, lett syrlig smak, med assosiasjon til søte gule epler. 4,7%.

Bottle shared with JMD on board Fridtjofen 31.07.17. Clear pale yellow. Quickly diminishing head. Refreshing aroma and taste of wild apples, apple zest, sulphur and leather. Very good. Crisp and slightly astringent mouthfeel.

Interesting apple notes mixed with some acetone or some sort of alcohol element, a little sour lactic type funk. Interesting finish, starts sweet, ends dry. Lingering fruitiness and acetone/funk.

Battle without the gold hat. Smell is typical clean sterile volatile apple cider. Clean fresh almost straight away flavor, quite fruity with a touch of sweetness. Good cutting co2 sizzle. Not bad overall, certainly better than my homemade stuff. Perhaps just a tad too much unfermetned sugar. Yes, worried if that sweetness will hurt the ol’ gullet.

650 ml bottle, as Doc’s Draft Framboise Raspberry Hard Apple Cider, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. Fermented with champagne yeast and malic acid. ABV is 5.5%. Peach to orange coloured cider, pours sparkling with a small and shortlived white head. Aroma of ripe and over-ripe raspberries, apples in the background. Moderate carbonation in the mouth. Medium sweet flavour of raspberries and apples, hints of sulphites.
