Cloudy orange coloured (too dark for this style), big white head, yeasty fruity nose. The aroma is also very yeasty and fruity (orange, lemon, grapefruit) with pleasant spicy notes. Slight acidic finish.

Pours a orange amber colour with small white head and fresh fruity nose. The aroma is malty, fruity and slight yeasty with notes of alcohol and spices. Some sediment at the bottom. Very good beer for the beginning of my Amsterdam beer hunt.

(Bottle, Monk’s CafΓ©, Stockholm) Amber colour, slightly hazy, with firm huge off-white head. Fruity, spicy nose with notes of orange peel and clove. Fruity, spicy taste with clove, cardamom, dark citrus, orange peel and grapefruit. Heavy citrussy bitterness in the finish with notes of bitter almond. Rather sweet, full body. Great beer with a powerful, hoppy and spicy character.

Cloudy amber colour, big fluffy stable head. Many spices and herbs in the aroma, cloves, coriander, citrus. Flavour is bitter, malty, with a lot of spices and herbs as well. Finishes bitter. Had to get used to the aroma and taste, but once it settled, I can appreciate this one.

Bottle. Rich amber beer with a big dark cream colored head. Orange, spice, sweet malt aroma. Spicy, orange, yeasty, malt flavor. Yeast, orange, and spice linger. Medium body. Fairly dry, bready finish. This is a beer that’s just calling out for some Brett.

Picked up at Beer World of Largo. The 330mL bottle has a date that looks to be March 2005. Is that the best by date? The beer poured out a slightly hazy light copper with off white head. A nice sediment cake was left behind. The aroma is sweet with grapes and apples along with hints of sweet caramel and yeast. The flavor is much like the aroma with fruitiness up front consisting of Concord grape jelly, Gala apples and plums followed by caramel candy. This is a nice mix of flavors. The finish includes hints of yeast and some light fruit tartness.

New Comments, at the brewery in Amsterdam, March 2024. Seet malt, some fruit as well, caramel and good palate. ------Shared by Retro42. A sweet beer. Light yeast, and sweet Belgian malt and Belgian yeast. They nailed the style on this one, but I usually expect IJ to do something a little different. This is an ordinary dubbel of high quality. 3.8
