Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours very dark - but ruddy - with a creamy tan head. Cherry aroma. Med body. flavor is dark cherry, but hardly tart. There’s a skin tartness that tries to show in the finish. A kriek that’s sweeter than tarter.

Bomber from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours dark copper with a foamy near beige head. Lots of earthy fruit in the aroma. Mild caramel. Med body or better. Flavor is earthy with resin. Mild hop burn. Lots of hop, but it could use some fruit. Finishes dry and earthy. And somewhat astringent.

Pours amber with a slight white head. Aroma is fruity Belgian. Med body. Flavor is fruity with a little earthy yeast/spice. I have no idea why, but it seems to have a slight chocolate note. finishes fruity, "Belgian", somewhat earthy and bitter.

Nice rich deep brown body with a thick, three centimetre tall light brown, slightly soapy head. Aroma of tons of complex notes - prunes, earth, dirt, grass, nuts, peat, roasted malt and of course - coffee. Medium-bodied; Assertive prune and pit fruit flavour at first with a good malt backbone behind and a nutty and slightly earthy finish. Aftertaste surprisingly thin with a bit of fruitiness noticeable, some lighter malt notes and a hint of grapes at the end. Overall, a good smelling and looking beer, but the flavour and especially the aftertaste simply disappoint. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from BevMo in San Bruno, California on 05-March-2012 for US$4.69 sampled a few days after returning from Hawaii, at home in Washington on 13-December-2012.
