Tap. Pours clear golden, small white head, decent lacing. Aroma of grain, rain water, pine, wood varnish. Flavor is pine, caramel, meh. Light plus sweet, light bitter. Light body. Different world than what I just drank.

Bomber from Corti Brothers. Pours very dark brown with a dark tan head. Aroma is primarily chocolate. Hints of smooth burnt malt. Near full bodied. Flavor is dark chocolate, smooth burnt malt, suddenly revealing cherry, and then going a bit ashy in the end. Almost wood rather than ash, but not quite. Kinda likin’ it.

GABF 2014. i appreciate that they call it lambic style.Very sweet with sugar and some berry flavor; with sweet malt in the aroma as well. Nothing like lambic at all; no sourness; no prominent yeast quality. Solid fruit beer anyway.

Bottle to glass at Spread in Campbell. Pours a clear amber-orange (more amber) with an ivory head. Aroma is malty and no hop presence. Taste is full biscuit malt with minimal hop. This is a fine beer, but not really an IPA. In any event, cheers to a CA brewer for making an English IPA and not just a massive west coast citrus bomb.

Hazy deep amber beer, good pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Minerally crisp carbonation. Semi dry malt with toffee - caramel crystal malt sweetness. Hops are piney with a little orange and orange marmalade. Finishes with the malt turning creamy and the piney hops turning bitter. Not the most sophisticated of DIPAs but okay.

Tap at the brewpub, fall 2013 - Pours clear yellow-gold with a small, lingering white head. It has a mild, grainy malt aroma. The flavor is sweet and grainy with corn. Hops is minimal. It says 26 IBUs but doesn’t taste like it to me. This beer really isn’t my thing.

Tap at the brewpub, fall 2013 - This brew has a fruity, caramel malt aroma and a copper color. The flavor is sweet up front, too much so as I found it to be syrupy and rather like cough medicine. It’s full bodied with a somewhat bitter finish and overall just a mess. Maybe this was a bad batch, but in my opinion it’s a botched attempt at an IIPA.
