(swing top bottle) Clear brown colour with a short frothy tanned head, diminishing into a creamy layer. Sweet malty, slightly roasted and nutty aroma with caramel and a veggie note. Initially moderately sweet and slightly roasted malty taste with caramel and hints of dried plums; medium to full bodied, light to moderate carbonation. More sweet than bitter finish with a well-integrated warming alcoholic note Lighter bodied than expected, but surely still drinkable mediocre Doppelbock. Sampled together with Paulaner Salvator and Andechser Doppelbock, it shows obviously its deficits in character and body.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, orangey brown with a small, off-white head. Sweetish, malty caramelish nose. Very solid and potent body with lots of caramel and roasted malt. Very powerful although the alcohol never becomes too much or dominating. Very discreet hoppiness. Quite a nice Doppelbock. 050206

Bottle. Clear chestnut colour. Big-bubbled, unstable head. Metallic aroma. Flavour is a little burnt, not very pleasant. Sourish bitterness in aftertaste. Quite high carbonation.

Pour is a cola brown with a small tan head. Aroma is hard to get a good whiff of but there are malts in there somewhere. Flavor is totally bland and boring. Some malts in there but overall this just tastes like water. Nothing to look for or care about.

Bottle: Amber coloured with a firm, off-white head; malts, alcohol and traces of vegetables or mushrooms in the nose; shy sweet-malty and fruity start; sweet flavour, medium to full-bodied; mainly sweet-malty finish, nearly no bitterness: Not cloying, but a bit too much on the sweet side..........
