Description
The "Grain d'orge" brewery is a family brewery that was founded in 2002 by Benoît and Viviane Johnen. It is located in the village of Hombourg, at the limit of the 3 borders. The production of the brewery has increased year by year since its creation to reach in 2016, 4000Hl of beers.

Its main beers are Brice, Joup, Canaille, Grelotte, The Pom, Triple, Double and Pure d'Aubel. To this are added others, so-called beers on contract. They are tailor-made for small debits or special events.

The combination of ingredients and natural spices makes Grain d'orge beers unique and the layout of a spacious brewing room respecting the standards imposed by the FASFC guarantees their quality. In addition, a banquet hall has been fitted upstairs. This is available for rent but also serves to welcome groups who visit the brewery in order to end pleasantly with a tasting.

Bottled, thanks KimJohansen! Lightly hazy nut brown. Florasl and fruity with some caramel and roastiness. Medium bodied with soft mouthfeel. Cherries give the caramel company, soothing mild finish. A pleasant, malt driven beer.

33 cL bottle. Started to pour somewhat pale - yet ended up almost hazzlenut brown to orange, unclear. Lacing white head. Spiced and orange to citric fruity aroma. Flavour is quite citric with a brief initial spice note. Citric flavour with a mild malt presence and light spice note. Not sure this is fully as intended though.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a lacing white head. Almost clean cornish acidic dry aroma, light spiced though. Flavour is mild mellow yeasty with a light wheaty note and delicate spice twist. Creamy carbonation mouthfeel, mild spiced finish too. Light caramel and yeasty mix into the finish, yet doesn’t let go of the pilsner like elements and stays much inside of that realm flavourwise.

33 cL bottle, gusher. Pours hazy dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma is sweet malty and yeasty fruity, yet also with a light citric accent. Flavour is sweet with a nice mix of caramel and yeast giving a nice fruity lingering flavour into the finish. Yet a mild citric note is also present indicating a light infection :( but still nice.

33 cL bottle. Pours cloudy golden amber to hazzlenut brown with fully diminished light tan head. Mild fruity and caramel/toffee like aroma. Light spiced. More pronounced spiced to herbal flavour with a medium dry toffee and light roasted malt base. Light tingling carbonation mouthfeel nicely breaking the somewhat dense toffee and malty flavour to a more creamy impression. Ends with a lingering mix of toffee and mild yeast presence.

Bottle @ Plan-B, Copenhagen. BB 08/06. Pours dark brown with no head or lacings. Aroma is sweet of caramel, dark fruits & sugar. Smooth mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Port/vinous notes. Reminds me of something in between fullers vintage ale & Chimay Bleu. Dusty cellar notes - but just right & pleasant!
