Description
Our brewery started life up in Morpeth, Northumberland, back in 2012. One name change later, we settled on being called Anarchy Brew Co. and started brewing our core beers, packed with flavour that we still make today (Blonde Star and Citra Star). After running out of room at the old site, we decided we needed somewhere bigger. And in October we moved to new digs in Newcastle upon Tyne, where you’ll find us today. The new Anarchy brewery opened its doors in October 2018 in Walkergate, with the added bonus of our new taproom.

Cask at CBC Clerkenwell during the Second Birthday Party - London. Pours dark brown with a frothy beige head. Milk chocolate aroma, some roast, ash. Medium sweet flavor with further milk chocolate character, ashy roast, burnt marshmallows, light dirt. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish with still more milk chocolate, some gooey dark chocolate, good roast. Great balance. Solid effort.

Keg at lyric, soho. It pours golden yellow with a medium white head. The nose is big on the passion fruit, mellow orange, mango, tangerine, smooth pale malt and light dough. The taste is bitter straw, grass, hay, pepper, zesty orange, grapefruit and lime with a rather dry, lingering bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent stuff all-round, I particularly like the passion fruit on the nose.

Cask at Lyric, soho. It pours clear golden with a small white head. The nose is grainy, hay, light barnyard, zesty, pear, melon, white grape and light toast. The taste is pleasantly bitter, straw, hay, grainy, pithy lemon, soft fruits, grapefruit and pepper with a dry, lingering bitter finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A quaffable hoppy golden.

Keg at the Bat. Pours hazy amber with a good, slightly off-white head. Aromas of caramel and marmalade. Taste is big! Lots more of the aromas, plus more fresh citrus fruits and some roasted flavours. Interesting.

Cask at the Duchess of Cambridge, Stamford Brook, 15/06/13. Murky dark chestnut brown with a thin beige head that retains well - but not a looker! Nose carries smoke, malt, light vinegar notes, toffee, malts - past its best me thinks. Taste however wasn’t as balsam like, dark malt, grain, toffee, smoked gammon, light spice. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finish. Drinkable, as in I finished a half, but don’t think this one was in top condition.

330ml bottle. Clear golden colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, white head. Cautious grainy aroma, a touch of straw and hay. Taste is pale malty, minmally malty spicy, unspecific fruity, some bitter hop in the finish.

Cask-conditioned at the Gryphon, Bristol 1/6/2013. As Maeib has already noted, this had a truly ugly appearance, the John Merrick of beers - muddy brown and cloudy. The rest of the beer was fine, with some citrus fruits, solid malts and whiff of smoke. Strange stuff indeed.

The Rake. Light haze on this gold beer, little white head. Light crispy palate, semi dry. Thin creamy malt. Really nice mellow citrus - orange and pink grapefruit. Semi dry finish. Very drinkable.
