Our approach to beer development is different than most. We outline the desired finished product, it’s appearance, aroma, mouthfeel and then reverse engineer the ingredients and processes to get our desired final product. Knowing and understanding not just individual ingredients characteristics, but how they interact with each other make this possible.

Can from Tanakaya. Drank straight from the can. Pine, orange and some light tropical fruit in the nose. Pithy, scratchy bitterness on the palate with juicy fruit. Bitter finish that lingers. Very drinkable, but a little on the bitter side.

Slightly hazy orange with a medium, loose white head. Tropical fruits, candied citrus, light biscuit. Bright fruity notes overall. Very nice ale.

Copper. Served ice cold so I’m not picking up any subtleties here. Caramel and toasted malt, nice floral and light pine hop. Sweet caramel behind a layer of juicy hop notes. I didn’t have time to let this warm up to where I’d have liked it. A good beer though. Good hop and malt balance.

Black with a beige head. Thick and oily body. Roaste malts, chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, light booze. Bittersweet cocoa finish. Very nice Baltic.

Draft or point at Blazing Onion. Nice amber copper color with a thin oily head. Nutty grain aroma. Flavor is much of the same. Good balance. Not much I can say that hasn’t been said already. Decently refreshing and flavorful. Pretty standard for the style, but most ambers fall in that line in my opinion. They are either bad, or alright. This was alright.

Deep russet color. Caramel, strawberries and citrusy nose. Pretty hoppy but was excepting a bit more malt in the backbone based on the nose. Not perfectly balanced. Decent bitterness. Not bad

7 Seas Ballz Deep Double IPA 8.4% On tap at Garage 39’s 2nd Anniversary Event. An orange gold pour with a thick beige head. The nose is big juicy citrus.mefium bodied with a raspy mouthfeel. The taste is sweet malts, fruity citrus, mint & pine. Tasty easy drinking stuff.

Orange with a white head. Aroma is malty citrus with a toasty edge. Flavor is similar with an overriding metallic tinge. That metal really gets in the way of the enjoyment. It almost gives it a rusty note. I’m not picking up the big juicy citrus they talk about. Middle of the road.

Draft pour pint at the safe. I’m not the most traveled person ever, but I’m pretty sure Seattle baseball has the best beer. Starts with these solid local favorites. Pours a bright golden color with a thin foam head. Sweet hop aroma and flavor. Nice lingering citrus. Good hop character. Good beer. $10 good? Ehh.

Dark brown color. Light brown head. The nose is fairly malty with lots of dark fruit and chocolate notes. The mouth is medium bodied with dark fruit and burnt brown sugar with modest hoppiness. Not a ton of roasted character or hoppiness. Almost reminds of a light Black Barley Wine. Pretty interesting and the more I drank it, the more I grooved on it.
