Well stored bottle @ home. Pich black body under a small, fast disappearing head. First impression was actually a bit disappointing. It smells and taste less complex than previously and felt a bit boozy. Realizing this was served too cold and then gave it some time in the glass to reach a bit closer to room temperature. Big difference. Somehow the booziness seems to be replaced by a nice warming vinous alcohol. That’s actually a bit strange as lower temperature normally hide booze. Anyway, a nice rich malt aroma with balanced roast, coffee, dark chocolate and distinct honey appeared nicely at this temperature. Taste feels soft and smooth even at 15,5 % ABV. Moderate roasted dark malt, a balanced touch of coffee and gentle dark chocolate, not too sweet either. Bitterness feels just in perfect balance and then the perfectly amount of sweet honey. The flavor of honey runs like a red thread throughout the palate, building through layers of complexity before culminating in a beautiful finish, where the alcohol warmth provides a comforting frame for the overall experience. A true big beer made of natural ingrediency without any cheap, commercial pastry tricks. A prime example of what proper aging contributes to a beer that already had an excellent starting point.

Backlog from unknown date. Dark brown body under a moderate sized beige head. Nice aroma of dark malt, dry fruit, wood, molasses with hint of whisky, pepper and spices. Taste is sweet, smooth roasted dark malt, dry fruit, wood, caramel, warming alcohol and a balanced hot touch from the sauce. Fine body with long lasting, warming aftertaste. A very nice one this, I was a bit worried about the hot souse impact, but this was not exaggerated at all. A nice, tasty, complex and original (not typical) take on the quad.

Well stored bottle @ Herøya. Black body under a small brown head. Strong aroma of soft, dark malt, dry fruit, chokolate, coffee with hint of caramel, wood, nicely integrated, vinous alcohol. Fine body with long lasting aftertaste. Really nice and complex with a certain vinous ending. Not boozy at all, just fine.
