Description

On tap at Arends Nest Amsterdam. Hazy pale gold lasting white head. A slightly wheat cereal witted with faint soap undertones. It’s Fullish in the mouth. Some lemon and orange. Touch of spice. Mostly wheat though. OK if a little unexciting.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Thompson, Niilstrong and Bobson. Clear dark amber to reddish color, average sized beige to slightly brown head. Smell and taste malts, lightly smoke, something weird, leather, a hint of herbs or spices and perhaps a hint of tea and pepper. Not my thing at all.

Bottle at home. Slight hazy brown with beige head. Light smoked malts, licorice, rye bread, caramel, some cloves, herbs. Taste is light to medium sweet. Medium bodied with creamy feel. Smoke is light and not overpowering the nice malts. Nothing black about it though.

Bottle from Biernavigatie, BB 10 2016, large sample. Slight hazy brown color, short frothy light brown head. Aroma of dry smoked wood, bit ash, campfire, slight peaty, bit earthy, slight nutty, some caramel. Bit spicy in taste, some candy sweetness, bit caramel. Sweetness gives body to a usually quite dry taste from the use of smoked malts. Spicy smoked beer. Interesting fusion brewing.

Bottle @ DØE meeting. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, light licorice, herbs, laurel. Flavor is malty, caramel, english licorice, laurel. Thin to medium body, average to lively carbonation. Laurel is about the last thing that ill fancy in my beer, but this actually works far better than expected. 150715
