Bottle from Maltby & Greek stall on Maltby Street, Bermondsey. Drunk at home. Gorgeous red-brown, slightly hazy with a quickly diminishing off-white head. Bags of caramel in the aroma with touches of molasses, handsoap, milky chocolate and whey. A big glug reveals a wave of sweetness duly followed by an intensely medicinal bitterness. Horehound sweets on the dry finish. Carbonation asserts presence without being too heavy. Medium to full body. Enjoyable barley wine.
