Description
Winning innovator on the Belgian beer market with brands such as Maes, Cristal, Desperados, Grimbergen, Affligem, Strongbow and Mort Subite.
Maes Pils volgt in 1946.

0.33l bottle. Clear amber body with a tiny white head. Aroma and taste of cocoa, raisins, orange zest and candi sugar. OK beer, but not my all time favourite dubbel.

Bottle from Wine Raks, St Swithin St. It pours clear oily golden - amber with a a lasting, fluffy white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, oily, perfumed, dried apples, pear drops, melon, candy, boiled sweets, caramel, toasty brown sugars, toasty grain and some sponge cake. The taste is firmly dry, bitter - sweet, sweet - sour, damp grain, grassy vibes, herbal, spicy, floral, pear, apple, melon, kick of fairly alcohol, toasty grain and straw with a drying, spicy finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Nice fruity twang, if a touch raw in the booze front.

From a 75 cl shared bottle. French version from Kronenbourg at 8.0 % abv. Clear, amber-golden colour with a dense white head. Sweet aroma with caramel malts, spices, and fruits. The taste is light sweet. Medium to full body. Slightly drying fruity spicy finish with some alcohol dense notes. Fair, somewhat basic.

Perfectly clear amber beer, thick off-white head. Smells of caramel and malt. Flavour has apple, caramel again, sweet malt, just a hint of the chocolate mentioned in the description. A bit of warming booziness. Decent.

17/III/24 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ Noa’s birthday party, home, BB: 23/VII/24 (2024-170)
Clear gold yellow beer, big frothy to creamy white head, a little stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots of ripe to overripe banana, fresh yeast, some pears, malty, fusels. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, ripe banana, gentle bitterness, very yeasty, sugary, pears. Aftertaste: more banana, sugary, yeast, esters, a bit medicinal bitterness, meh, not very good.
