Familienbrauerei Jacob

Regional Brewery in Bodenwöhr, Bavaria, Germany 🇩🇪

Established in 1758

Description
In 1758 the first master brewer, Peter Still from Fischbach, was able to start work on the Hammersee. In 1804 the Electorate of Bavaria decided to privatize the brewery. In 1884 Johann Baptist Jacob, great-grandfather of the current generation of owners, Marcus and Friedrich Jacob, acquired the company. The next two generations Jacob (each with first name Friedrich) took over his pioneering spirit and the iron will to keep the company up to date for the benefit of quality and employees. The continuation of the family tradition is assured even today. For the future, the next generation of Jacob is ready to successfully carry the centuries-old values into the fifth generation.

Bottle online from Raynville Superstore. Pours a dark caramel brown colour with a medium sized beige head. Aromas of bananas, cloves and caramel. Taste is the same again typical Dunkel Weissbier. Will have to try again one day as my taste buds are not right this evening. Seems a decent beer though.

Gold with a creamy, white head. Aroma of cereals, white bread, and a touch herbal. Taste is bitter the whole way though with a lingering fresh grains. Medium-bodied, moderate carbonation, mildly watery texture. Simple. Clean. Ok.

Bottle online from Raynville Superstore. Pours a cloudy muddy yellow colour with a medium sized fluffy white head. Typical Hefe aromas of bananas, cloves and peppery spice. Taste is the same again, more bananas, cloves and lots of peppery spice on the finish. Thin to medium body and a fair amount of carbonation. Nice above average Hefe. Good one.

Bottle online from Raynville Superstore. Pours a slightly hazy caramel brown colour with no head. Aromas of dry dark fruits, brown bread, fruit cake and caramel. Taste has the same again very typical Doppelbock with some added peppery spice and warming alcohol. Thin to medium body, slight fizz on the tongue and oily mouthfeel. Not bad but much better examples of the style out there. Average Doppelbock.
