Bottle from Beergium. Aroma is dark malt, caramel, brown sugar, dried dark fruits, raisins, touch of liquorice, yeast. Flavour is quite sweet, bit cloying. Body is above medium. A rather sweet Belgian Strong Dark Ale with the usual flavours.

Nice aroma. A bit too thin in terms of mouthfeel.

Bottle courtesy of Ursula and consumed at home in the company of Jonas, Ursula and Marko Friday 7th February 2025 listening to ByteFM, we had Beef Stifado and a Greek Salad for tea tonight. Pours black with not much of a head, this tastes rather slim compared to the previous beer. Cognac is a little bit too pushy, chocolatey, a little warming okay but get my skates on as we're on a lambic now.

0.33l bottle, huge thanks Ursula for bringing it from Netherlands. Hazy dark red, blackish even. Pleasant, subtle aroma, some light chocolate, vague cognac, raisins.... vague wood, some vanilla. Lean, dry, well balanced taste, coffee breaks through more, definitely some raisins, but remarkably drinkable. No missteps, very elegant. Some light alcohol warmth, but makes sense within the context, it's almost juicy. Good one!

Barrel ageing immediately noticed it's a bit boozy but there's a lot going on here with liquorice, btw someone amongst us said balsamic and they're right. It's not too heavy very much a bonkers Belgian creation. Lovely.

Thx Ursula for bringing the bottles from the Netherlands! Extremely dark red body, no head. Vaguely tart aroma, sour cherries and brown sugar. Sugary, sweet taste, caramel, brown sugar, vague chocolate, some griotte-style sour cherries, vague balsamic notes, loads of heat in the finish. A bit much to be fair, lovely but a bit too much...
