Description
1901 A promising start - On a good October Sunday in 1901, Jean-Baptiste Jodoin bought and orchard with it’s somewhat hundred apple trees.
1937 His son, Ernest Jodoin, inherited the family orchard in 1937 and during his lifetime acquired more land, which he later sold to his sons. Apples will be the providing income for the family for at least four generations!
1988 The cider house opens! - After a rough start (about 150 bottles in the first 6 months), the tenacity and drive of Mr Jodoin pays off: 5000 bottles in 1990 going onto 100 000 in 2004!
After a rough start, the cider house takes flight!
Striving to offer quality and original products, the cider house is proud to become the leader in traditional method ciders, the first microdistellery in Canada (1999) and the biggest producer in North America of the famous red fleshed apple, the Geneva.
Many times decorated, never equaled, Michel Jodoin cider house is a must stop of the Québec Cidrer circuit, not to mention a flagship of the Canadian food supply industry.

Poured from a 2013 vintage bottl courtesy fo the one and only tom10101; thank you!!! Aroma is full of green apples, caramel, candied apples, honey and tropical fruits. Pours a crystal clear, brilliant gold with long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with lots of green apple notes. Lighter honey, and caramel notes. Some candied apple character with hints of tropical fruit and melon. Light acidic notes and tannins. Mouthfeel is full bodied with no carbonation. Low astringency and low, but present alcohol warmth. Overall, a really enjoyable cidre de glace. Great complexity with a combination of apples that is really bright and full of tropical character.

(750ml bottle from the SAQ, Quebec City) Pours beautiful salmon-tinged pale yellow with a large and rapidly vanishing sparkling wine style frothy pink head. Notes of fresh, crisp and quite floral apple flesh with accents of strawberry and red forest berries, lightly sweet and lightly tart, soft berry skin tannins, clean and slightly dusty yeastiness, lingering softly floral apple and berry hits in the semi-dry finish. Medium bodied with active mouth-filling carbonation. Nice refreshing aperitif or even digestif, as I had it, with the floral and berry quality of Geneva apple providing a little complexity. Not super involved but easy to drink.
